this is a great move for the consumer. Nvidia will have to examine whether or not the G-Sync modules need to be dropped or rebranded. and i say that as an owner of a high refresh G-Sync monitor. it is one thing for we gurus to parse the spec sheet, it is another thing for the consumer. and even for us the clarity of the standard gives a better basis for consideration other than the completely one-sided presentation of every manufacturer. this is especially helpful in gamers buying their first monitor - whether for console or for pc they know that Adaptive Sync 144, 165, etc... is all they need to look at to compare different models, not which flavor of Free-Sync or G-Sync - which we already knew but some kid in Chicago, Lille , or Osaka didn't.

I really dont understand why this has taken so long, from its first inception to a sensible standard, has taken the better part of 10 years to come some kind of consensus , when its one of the more important , and simplier features to implement. jitter from playback of video at different framrates has been a pet peeve, always been a pain if the source media is using a not-quite-synced or divisible framerate.
