No problem. As I said the sticks can be a little costly for a good one. You're looking at around the £100 mark, although you can get entry level models for £30-40 if you're unsure. Personally I'd just go for a better stick from the get go, if you find yourself liking them you'll quickly want to upgrade from an entry level one anyway. If you decide you dislike them you'll have an easier time selling a better stick.

Hmm, i totally got it wrong.
I thought it would simply work like sticks, so when you hold your thumb at a specific spot on the pad it would keep turning. But it seems you have to swipe for the "mouse" function.

I'll wait until I actually use it, until then I'm skeptical.

Controller looks ok. Would have to try it.
But i'll be passing on the steambox.
It's just playing pc games again.
There are much better games coming for Consoles imo. So i'll keep my current pc and will be buying a PS4. Gotta love those compute units in the PS4.
Also i'd prefer valve get on with the task of HL3. Where the hell is it.

Very cool. I look forward to trying one.

Yep, mouse looks quicker & more accurate, but still pretty good for a controller I think. I think I'd increase the sensitivity of the track pad on the right hand so that I could move it quicker than the guy in the video.

Looks pretty cool. Have to wait and see how it handles in real life. The video is nice but you can't judge a device like that just from a video. Also the price will be very, very important

I'm not convinced. The demonstation seemed focused on games that either had mouse-operated user interfaces or very simple controls (Portal 2, shooting gallery, etc.).
The Steam Controller seems to be more focused on offering a mouse-like experience than a controller-like one and as such lacks a number of physical buttons offered by controllers. Where's the equivalent of the D-pad used for selecting items quickly in Saints Row IV or Call of Duty? Where are the face buttons to allow crouch and jump among other things? Controller analogue sticks are also clickable to allow camera changes and so on. It seems to me that the Steam controller doesn't replicate everything the controller offers.
Worst still, for me, is that fact that the mouse pointer controls exactly like on a laptop touchpad and I absolutely detest using though. I'm sure at some point I'll get to try this controller but until then I remain doubtful as to whether it can truly offer a better experience than existing Xbox 360/PS3 pads.
