Huh... they're done with the touch display. Ohwell.. Still seems comfy though

These are still prototypes and not the final product. Since the design is based on feedback from the community, maybe they didn't feel the need for a gamepad to have touch display. Maybe it looked cool to have one but personally for me it seems useless. All i want from a gamepad is for it to have comfortable handling and that is accomplished with the external design on how it will sit between your hands. A perfect weight distribution will be needed and with the right positioning of the buttons and triggers to be easily accessible with different hand sizes in mind.

I really like the design, curious how it will feel when playing with this thing though. 🙂

Can't wait to get one of these badboys. I wonder what connectivity they'll use. Bluetooth with a dongle perhaps?

One thing i am curious about is the compatibility and detection of the gamepad, as all games are mainly designed for the Xbox controller with the layout of it embedded into the games themselves.

Well I have used one of the old design and it takes alot of getting used to those pads are mirroring controls for a mouse and keyboard the left panel mirrors wasd and the right the mouse. I would prefer it if they just made a 360 clone controller and left PC & mouse support in tact and called it a day.

That still looks like one worse gamepads I ever seen, well long as i ignore the wii/wii u controlers

I don't know about the worst controller but it does seem to promote a slightly different grip to the mainstream controllers. The images suggest a greater interior rotation of the hands, which gives better access to the buttons close to the centre and moves the trigger buttons outwards. It's like a tiny step to a keyboard posture.

Can't wait to try one of these! Analog sticks are useless when trying to emulate mouse and keyboard; try Xpadder for a crash course. IMHO people are attacking this controller because they don't want to try something new! They have been using analog sticks for almost 20 years. Using this may have a high learning curve but I remember when I gave my dad, who doesn't play games, the 360 controller and told him the left analog stick controls movement and right analog stick controls camera... Watching him play was funny and kind of painful since he couldn't easily get the hang of it. He handed the controller back and said these games are garbage and a waste of time. That's the same response some gamers are giving the Steam Controller. I'd rather wait, try it myself and give it a chance before I bash it saying it's garbage.

Cant wait to try this and hope it has good PC support similar to the 360 controller. Maybe this will finally give me an alternative to the KB/M as I cant aim for sheet with the analog sticks.

Care to elaborate? With no mechanical parts but still has "analog joysticks", this is better than the average controller. The only problem is I don't see it being very precise for tapping purposes (meaning, if you commonly release your thumb, it might be difficult to know exactly where you want to place your thumb when you want to make another motion). As for the touchscreen, I remember hearing they decided against it, since it was basically just an expensive gimmick. I'm glad they removed it.

Also glad the touchscreen is gone, controllers are getting too expensive and since im clumsy i want something i know can handly getting dropped, hit or just me tripping over the wire. I'm still confused how these will work though, ideally it will emulate the mouse for on the right pad, but the left pad will emulate an analog stick for movement. Hopefully that is the case as emulating the keyboard for movement would be poor. Aiming will most certainly be easier with this than a standard pad, but everything else looks like it would be worse, and with the screen gone there are now not enough buttons that you could use the pad to replace the keyboard.

Maybe for game that supports analog movement? For games that doesn't it could just be WASD.

Im all for better things then analog sticks cause they suck ass when it comes to aiming, but for movement there perfect, it aiming with any kind of accuracy where they suck compared to mouse. even if they just used one of those touch things it still use of the thumb to aim which "could" be better then analog stick, but it would be anything but ideal imo and still no where as accurate as aiming with mouse. I love using gamepads to play my games but I DESPISE them for any kinds of aiming cause there no wheres as accuracy as mouse

My understanding is that it what ever you want it to be. Act as analogue or trackpad. I now do 90% of my PC gaming with a 360 gamepad and so looking forward to a proper alternative to the 360 controller. Hopefully this controller will alleviate the 360's poor design issues but maintains its excellent build quality.

Yes, but there are games that does not have analog movement and in this case, it will act as if it is WASD. And for games that doesn't allow keybinding, you have to program it to emulate key press. Basically, the controller is like a G13 in the form of a controller pad.
