Good news for those ripped off by the sites selling the keys

Very, very poor handling :eyes:

This is going to annoy those who ended up having to buy the game again and start over from the beginning...

Makes me wonder how many unwitting people continue to buy and worse still preorder their products. Their share value is rising and they have already recovered from the disaster launch of ACU. Does anything slow this company down?

I said to me lots of times I wouldn't buy an Ubi game again, but those gameplays with elephants made me buy the game ... Now, after removing the game from my ubi library with 50-60% progress, I promise myself I don't want Ubi again. I mean, it's not ubi fault that someone stole those keys and sold them, It is more about the way they dealed the problem with me: removing the game from my library without any info. Rgrds!

Yeah I'm a little bit upset, but fortunately my saves picked up right where I left off. Wish I would have known they were going to do this. Otherwise I wouldn't have bought AC Unity + the season and the Season pass for Far Cry 4 again. Now I have duplicates I can't do anything with.

I can't. The duplicate games are already tied to my account. I go to play AC unity this morning and saw I had 2 copies on my uplay dashboard and im like wth is going on. So I look under my account info and notice the 3 keys that were banned are now active again.

Dont worry! Send an e-mail to them, I'm sure they will refund the money or give you a gift card or whatever, like any normal and friendly company does... ... ... ... ... ... oh wait, it's Ubisoft!:banana::banana::banana:

Ubisoft got exactly what they wanted. Because those legitimate sites who resold stolen keys (they did not stole them themselves, nor had idea they were stolen) were giving people back money they paid. Main points from this story: UBI got money from thiefs, some were taken back to original owners if they managed to invalidate transaction. Rest they keep. 3rd party stores were refunding their customers for deactivated games. This is quite some damage. And finally users get games activated again, so UBI looks "good" to customers. (Customers who got refunded have back their money and have free game.) If 3rd party stores get their money back from customers for working products, they will be seen as bad guys here. Congratulations UBI! Congratulations EA! You made it happen!

Ubisoft don't to keep any of the stolen money. Is it not a massive first world problem to complain about having two copies of the same game, especially when you are able to get a refund for the original key.

So, do you think that if my credit card info gets stolen and thief purchases goods from UBI in value of $20000. And then after 6 months I realize my money are gone, will they refund me? (Even if I notice after 1 month it is long time after I have lost any legal protection and insurance.) If they do refund you, then I advice everyone to give their credit info to such thief for 50% of profit. That would be best interest rate you can ever get anywhere.

Your bank will likely refund you minus a fee.

If the blame lies with the Merchant then the Merchant has to refund the money, no insurance company will pay unless it has to and no bank will make a customer pay if the customer can prove it wasn't them As for the fraud thing, people do that quite often, but it's extremely high risk for the small amounts of money you would get.

Not a single penny without insurance. That is why I have it. And even while I have it, there is very strict time limit. I get full refund for transactions which happen in 36hours to time I call them to block my card. Then it goes down pretty fast and if I am week too late, I get nothing. But hey, do ask your own bank what is insurance for. And if you should have it or not 🙂

That's a problem with your bank then. If someone fraudulently uses your card and it was not your fault then you are not liable and you should not need to pay for insurance for something that should be standard. Places like Steam, Origin didn't use 3D Secure the last time I checked as it is is a pita, but that leaves them liable as it means your not there to authorise the transaction. Solfaur, the store has no way of knowing if you have started playing the game or not, so demand the refund.

Well, they probably didn't expect things to escalate as they did so they exercised some damage control. They were going to take more flak either way.

I know Ubi are hated but come on. No matter what they do people still gonna hate. Take away stolen keys, gonna hate. Give back stolen keys, gonna hate. Poor Ubi can't win. My heart bleeds for them.

Not sure i agree with the last sentence lol. Ubi and everyone involved are all very rich and happy, the sales to hate ratio actually puts the hate quite low. Feel sorry for the small companies who go bust when the hate overwhelms the sales.
