I would not call it bad. Have you seen reaction to Byrne around net? They were not beneficial to AMD and so they have been scheduled for change.

Personally, I use Intel and nvidia, but I'm sure that somewhere in the house there is a device using an AMD chip in some form or another... Nothing wrong with AMD whatsoever, good quality products - but it's hard to compete in the market they are in when there are rumours of back-room deals being had with things like Gameworks. We all remember the tessellation horizon effect in Crysis2, do we not? How can AMD compete? (not a rhetorical question) It's a valid, honest question and maybe is a better way to start discussions on AMD than trying to bitch-slap them into being better. What do they need to do to keep afloat and competitive?; because I like having them in the market so there is innovation and determination to improve by the other companies in the same market. On a sort of tangent: I think in recent years one of the 'AMD killers' was the i2500K, that chip just pwned at the right price.

It's a good sign they're cleaning house a bit. New CEO, new executives, new x86 design in 2016...

That is right, I was getting my i5-2500k right after FX-8150 release as I have waited if that is worth or not. In total it was/is better performer, but I did not need 8 threads in last 3 and half years. I needed mostly 2 threads, sometimes 3 and very rarely 4. Nothing what AMD could do would make FX-8150 more attractive for gaming purposes than i5-2500k. If I remember correctly AMD pushed 8150 with some internal parts disabled as they were problematic and only part of them got fixed with 8350. Way too often AMD had been dragged down by "leadership" with wrong idea about what market wants. And when it was not, intel made sure on backstage that AMD's products will not bring enough revenue. But now I believe that Lisa Su understands market sentiment. But I think AMD should stab some backs too. because some of their "partners" are actually harmful to them by postponing products till time they are no longer desired or making them in unreasonable configurations + too expensive. What is point of A10 micro-6400T (2.8W SDP; 4,5W TDP) in 15.6" laptop? Did it had very small PCB and very large battery to last 2 days? No, it had very small battery working for 5 hours. How many tablets came with it? Not much here in EU, 0 in Czech Republic.

I just hope this brings fresh winds to AMD, they could use some imho.

Not sure exactly what the issue with Byrne was but LaForce needed to go. Maybe now instead of the hype machine that has been AMD's marketing department will go away and we'll start seeing fact based marketing instead of all the misleading crap we've seen for the last several years.

Maybe new drivers that benefit EVERYONE? 🙂

I hope they bring in new people that bring AMD back. I'm a NVIDIA guy but competition is what keeps things going. Tired of getting rehashed products.

That chip still pwns today. Anyone running a 2500/2600K that "minds his budget" and overclocks has been going like "meh still no reason to upgrade" for quite a while now. Probably the longest time I've ever held on to 1 CPU and I hope to continue to do so until DDR4, etc drop to reasonable prices.
