Likely because its both. Intel is diversifying foundries.

I thought Ryzen is 7nm and its fairly new. So'' 5nm''? Okay. 3nm, man they are pushing it.

It doesn't matter how good competition is (zen3 etc.) if they can't produce. Well done Intel. 🙁

Or maybe shutting down its own in the long run 😎

I bet Intel is paying a premium, which will be passed on depending what the chips are used for.

On a serious note, I still don't think he got enough sleep considering the first sentence.

Someone at TSMC must be pretty darn happy right now.

Returned to Manufacturer, just like the virus (the clown...I meant "crown") which was not as efficient as its makers hoped (hence this "new strain" in Great Britain appeared)... Happy days are here again - we'll all go back to the future...;)

If they gimp down the AMD ability to produce chips, that will be sad. 2022 seems too near for a 3nm switch

This is still a RUMOR. Digitimes says it's a RUMOR and for the anglicized it's rumour Intel HAS contracted for 7n(m) and 5n(m) the only Contracts issued (to date) for 3n(m) are with Apple and AMD. this doesn't come out the week AFTER an earnings call. it comes out before as it stokes investor interest in both companies.

TSMC has been innovating, while Intel has been consumed with a predilection for stock buy backs!

So next year we will get 5nm Ryzen 4, still beating intel until late 2022 when intel will bounce back with TSMC 3nm.
