Raising the bar or doing it better? Begging the question: I have a relatively alright connection atm using the 500 series, green connection on all but about 30 ms latency between some of the sockets but the maximum speed im getting is about 200mb/s; is this just raising the capacity of a powerline network if its the best network ever or is it actually better designed to raise the limit for an existing system?

From all the powerlines I've tried I got the lowest latency out of Devolos. Though it also depends on the quality of the electrical wiring, etc.

i got one from tp-link; the AV500 and works quite well. a lot better than the traditional wifi wireless signal extenders.

What a chore i have been going through with low latency gaming with a router down stairs and costly at that. First i used a standard TP link 2.5G adaptor throughput was meh latency was ok but had odd spikes which made gaming not the most plesent. so changed to a linkys AC1200 adaptor 5GHz full bars as before and 866mpbs data rate dropping down to 760mbps every now and then, gaming was far far worse than 2.5G but throughput was fantastic but gaming was utterly impossible even if distance wise the router was only 3 meters away through the floor. So recently switched over to TPlink AV500 powerlines and has been pretty good latency is very low and was connected through a surge protector but through put was meh. So got a 5m Cat6 to take it to the power socket through put increased massively but got the odd drop out every now and then. So looked at the socket where the router is and disconnected from the multi adaptor to the wall socket and seems fine now no drop outs, data transfer between the adaptors is 330mbps which is fine. Guess having it plugged into the same socket as the router was causing the drop outs. Despite going from surge protectors to direct into socket through put increased about 50% latency is exactly the same. For gaming wifi sucks so bad it's just not worth the time or effort. Powerlines are much much better.

Devolos are the only thing I ever got working. They've been in a month now through powercuts and BT line outages and they don't require any thought they just work when things come back on. Flawless signal. tplink and netgear were just not really working at all in the same sockets and reset with every fuse blowout or lightbulb pop.

i have TP-LINK 200Mbps and Netgear Powerline AV500 they both would drop out every now and then, they were also plugged into the same socket as the router, i don't need/use them atm (stuck on pay as you go internet for a while) although handy info as i will try diffent power socket as router next time.
