They want everyone to be able to play it unlike the awful release of Ghosts. Any word on the open "beta"?

It runs on Source, correct? This is understandable given the state and cost of either developing a new games engine or using another (brand new) game engine. Nothing wrong with this and it's nice to see the source engine is still going strong.

I know graphics aren't everything but those low specs and the fact that the game just doesn't look impressive visually (seriously, how old is the Source engine now... 10 years old?) leave me wondering what all the fuss is about this game. It looks pretty much like every other first-person shooter bar the addition of a wall jump mechanic and mechs. Not really my cup of tea at all.

Havto agree....im mainly just playing mmo's these days as that's what most of my friends play etc...that and shooters are super boring and unfun... Like you said this aside from some of the mechanics in gam,e looks like another stale boring shooter with subpar graphics on an old ass engine lol...

Well you pretty much nailed it. Mecha and jump mechanics for more vertical movement is the game's main hype train ATM. The whole bot deal is too early to have any particular feeling about so yeah, if what you said about the game doesn't capture you then it's probably not to your taste. Unless you subconsciously want a game like this XD

I guess I expected more from today's games. from the looks of this and others, the Elite 130 and 110 builds will last me 10 years...

This game will not be a graphical bomb, nothing new there, but I sure hope it will pay off with good gameplay and good NETCODE (uhuh, I didn't even know what netcode was until I started playing BF3 and now 4 :P, and I realised just how important it can be in a FPS). The only thing that slightly puts me off is the low player number, but again, this should only lead to a better and smoother gaming experience. We'll see soon enough... 😉

Found out the game is auto-assist aiming !?!?! lol what a joke this game is going to be. It's going to be just like the retard console games where you don't need any skill to be a master bullseye shooter.

The source engine maybe very well be pretty old but you have to admit its a pretty smart, efficient, highly moddable, and very hardware friendly in terms of being scalable. Just look at HL2, then look at EP1 and EP2 its not drastic but the improvements are there too see. Look at Portal 1 and 2 they both look excellent visually but when you think about it that game uses about five different colours and the areas themselves are pretty small. A game does not have to be graphically intensive or using DX11 and tons tessellation to look good it comes down to art style for me for the most part. Looking at the trailers of TITANFALL sure the game it self does not look graphically intensive and the textures are pretty low resolution but the gameplay does look interesting enough for me to want to jump in and give it a go. The developers have got a lot riding on this and a lot to prove after the Modern Warfare 2 fiasco. I just got done (finally) playing through Metro Last Light, now whilst I think its probably one of the best fps games in recent years and yes it is pretty graphically intensive on hardware. It's not the sole reason for me loving the hell out of the game, its the atmosphere, the sound effects, the voice overs, the musical score, the lighting, the animations, the enemy and level design and the story it self. Also sorry to make a long winded post like this but the best thing I can say is look at the horror game Outlast, made by an incredibly small team for relatively small amount of money and it uses the pretty outdated and massively overused Unreal Engine 3.... yet it looks the bomb.

I really do have to agree. While I love graphics, its not everything. Too me, Source still looks good for it ages. Ofcourse now we do have much higher res monitors now, SweetFX, alot more AA to use as well. But just look at the fake factor mods for HL2. Thats impressive for a 10 year old engine.

Time to dust off my old EVGA special edition 8800GTX to find out. It's still under warranty.

Art direction over graphic fidelity every time. There will be a open "beta" this month on origin if any one wants to try it out. I'm quite looking forward to some classic cod with robots 🙂

Source, while being 15 years old, has evolved. It's also got great character animation and hit detection. Besides, one can always use high-res textures, which are way more important than flashy effects in my opinion. Also, I think it's got much greater chance to not crash as often as BF4.

I reckon Hawken looks far more interesting that this.

Looks? You can go play Hawken right now to try it. Last time I did (long time ago... like 9 months ago perhaps?) it got boring really fast for pure multiplayer game because the entire game's meta back then revolved around a single weapon (the rocket launcher) with speed trumping over armor, wrecking balance by huge margin.

it seems it will be p2p for PC as well
