one of my favorite game since years... not bleeding edge graphic but so much intensity in everything. this is real multi-player game.

i've always overlooked this game (not to sure why maybe a big learning curve) , but after watching that video wow its looks like it could be awesome ,i might do a bit of research, however i do like games where one can just jump straight in and play.

It's not for you then, cause training unless they changed it since I last played takes easy upwards of 6 months plus.

Nah in first month you get the basics down just fine and get somewhere. But to get anywhere one needs to play forever 😀

After 2-3 months the game hits brick wall and it takes months to get anything new. At this point the game started to die for me as I did just load skills, and it seemed to me that higher skill level players also mostly just afk. For me this game would be far more enjoyable if I could benefit from actual gameplay as I like to keep on pushing for the gains, and enjoy just doing stuff. Like for example if the Battlecruiser skill would increase from Battlecruising around the space, or even from just ruining someones day? I'd prolly still be playing the game. But, yes I recommend to try that few months and then if youre into just straightforward ruining someones day, you'll love the game at this point. Especially if you have no time to play games as the skills come along on irl time. PS: T2 Artillery Hurricane

Eve video trailers making boring sh*t look epic since 2003.

EVE is great game which evolved over years. Graphics is good enough too. Only thing I did not like was waiting till character learns new skills. I had resources for ships I could not pilot. Some friends still play, and those battles are as epic as in any other good MMO (like lineage) where you battle over something which will be yours till you lose it again. If you battle to be in some ladder or for gear, that is not epic. EVE has probably highest targets and ability to lose so much in battle and that makes it epic.

I've always loved Eve, I'm tempted to start playing it again now.

After having sat in asteroid belts doing nothing but mining while waiting for pvp skills to train was a killer. Then when they killed off the superiority of the Raven, kind of reminded me of a Klingon Bird of Prey, that just about did me in. I left after sinking 7+ years. CDI, Corp One, and The Unforsaken were the only corps I played for. EDIT: Not having a proper level clone was always not to be found till after getting podded. Have they nerfed Warp Bubbles yet?

For me "online" is a total turn off.
Online is what makes the game.

I went to the outer rim on my first day with nothing but a velator, noobie mining laser and a set of balls bigger than the asteroids I mined. I warped back to 0.5 (orvolle?) and sold the -0.0 mins for millions (2005) and kept going back. Anyone who says anything to do with 'you gotta skill up' has no skill. Sorry. Not beating on you in the slightest, but I got sick of hearing that tired line over the 7 years I played and it got to the point I put a macro in my keyboard to reply to someone who said that. It was so utterly offensive it would not just break the forum rules here but the space-time continuum should I repeat it here. I stopped playing after working for them doing contract work, simply because I got to learn that (essentially) the company goal is to pay their staff 25-30% less than the rest of the games industry and pacify the player-base. I breaks down like this: Their continual plan is to release new content when the existing content is broken from either a technical standpoint or from a very basic game mechanic point of view. Every single piece of marketing and PR is designed to pacify players by giving them content which they didn't ask for. It's fairly simple to take credit for fixing something which is fundamentally broken, even when it is your fault it was broken to begin with. I could go on at considerable length about this company, but basically the game currently has a ton of content which is broken, or content which was introduced to fix a problem and created a new problem as a result. Capital ships, doomsday weapons, the door, boot.ini, drones, T2 & T3, blueprints, clone jumping, warp to zero, concordokkens, AoE weapons, bombs, Monaclegate, Gallente nerfs, mass inertia nerf, webifier nerf, scram nerf, blaster nerf, Nathan left, T0mB left, Loxyrider left (the guy who original made the video 'this is eve', but I know him as Oli) and then we got: Staff being culled every year for the last 3, entire divisions being shut down, entire game developments being shut down, extremely bad reviews and new games (DUST514) and the killing off of those games. The top members of staff have got Ivory Tower syndrome and have literally no connection to the player-base or the minions below them. Although they talk a lot about hiring people from all over the world and a general respect they have for the internationality of their staff, not one of the top people are A: Women or B: Non-Icelandic If you are not Icelandic and not in the inner circle, you won't a C-Level position no matter how many years you are there. Even if you have an MFA from Oxford. The game was good, up until 2007/8 but then it slowly went downhill and went over the edge into the cliff of gaming crap. Damn shame. But, the players keep putting money in the pockets of the people at the top and that's their business... And then there is Mintchiplol...not even when my NDA runs out will I spill the beans about how and why she got hired, and who was involved, but holy-sheeeeet, some of it is on the internet already (especially the nude photos) but even that is the tip of the Iceberg. She doesn't work for them any longer... Back on topic - nice video, shame it was simulated using Jessica, minus the voices of course. The game looks nothing like that, just a mess of the worst GUI to ever exist in a computer game. Every action is a list, y'know why?; because games developers always use lists, so just ported it over to the game and went for breakfast and said 'screw it'. Oh, and they love to hire people who play the game and, who are known/famous players - reason being: it makes the company look good and they passively accept the incredibly low wages because they are working for the company who makes the game they've been playing. Imagine the biggest WoW fan being hired by Blizzard...same thing. PR and cheap labour who won't argue. Genius.

What was behind having to notify CCP prior to staging a massive battle? They just did not have the needed infrastructure?

every time you plan big battle you have to make a request to devs to reallocate systems in which the battle is going to take place to separate node. If you don't you will end up in huge lag fight/chess game. I've been in battles where it took over 10 min (!) to cycle modules/weapons. And i have to agree with @The Laughing Ma, the trailers look f**n amazing...but when you start playing all that awesomeness fade away.

Another thing they could have fixed: "alliances". All you would need is a passel system for territory control and this problem would go away. So, corporations control a system, bigger entities with different names control constellations, even bigger entities control regions and finally alliances control quadrants (n/e, n/w, s/e, s/w). Corps cannot take regions and alliances cannot take systems, all votes go upwards and power goes downwards. Badly managed alliances get voted out allowing for a new alliance to control a quadrant, or, an ambitious regional controller decides to take on leading an alliance. You forbid ships of certain types to take the flag of systems etc, but allow PvP on any scale anywhere, so long as it doesn't try to cap a system with the wrong ship type of course. It would solve everything, and stop the stupid 10,000 player lagfests which last for hours on end, just because a frickin' module on a moon mining facility ran out of fuel. If any alliance caps all quadrants (for as long as they can) the leader basically becomes 007 with a licence to kill anyone, anywhere at any time with no repercussions to the police. They become Emperor. It would be the ultimate victory, but practically impossible to attain - even if you somehow convinced the other 3 quadrant leaders to fail on purpose, the layers beneath them would vote them off and kick them out. I've yet to meet anyone at CCP or the playerbase who can argue against this idea - it's bulletproof, except the CCP inner circle want 10,000 players battling for petty resources because it gives them something to try and fix. idiots.

Would like to meet that girl taking part. Has a really nice voice, and isn't upset by all the expletives being used. 🙂
