I wonder how it performs. I can do passive cooling with my NH-D14 if I dont do demanding things... like gaming only. If I stress my CPU too much, temps are too high, obviously. Honestly, I don't think it will perform that well since there is still no air flowing through the heatsink. All those holes and size may help a bit, but those things wont outperform a fan. Honestly, even if if temps are acceptable like my NH-D14 when all I do is game, there is a problem with heat dissipation. It stays hot for a long time.

The HR-22 is much wider than my Prolimatech Super Mega but looks to be a better design. The extra width is towards the case exhaust fan rather than extended out over the RAM slots. The case fan would suck hot air from the heatsink while I could put a single fan on the other side to suck cool air in. Not sure if the fans' RPM should match. My i7-965 under load rarely goes above 60C. The HR-22 looks even more of a beast than the Prolimatech. Maybe for next year... I will wait for the reviews.

holy hell. That's one big cooler. But if you're worried about sound you could also use some decent fans. I use one 140mm and one 120mm fan on my CNPS10x extreme and there are a few other noctua fans making very little noise. My HDD is the noisiest part of my PC when not gaming (really should get an SSD :P)

http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1367-page1.html It doesn't seem that good (compared to competition yes other than the cr-95c, but not good enough for 100% load all the time). I am more interested in the cr-95c now that I saw it in that review. lol, thing is huge.

PC users (sorry Mac!) eliminate the need for one of the noisiest component in your PC chassis (CPU FAN)!
CPU fan is far from the noisiest part in PC these days.
