Looks like this one uses an Intel processor again. So it should be able to do transcoding for media server applications. It might replace my DS415+ when I need more storage.

Yes and no. Soldered 2GB RAM limits expandability. 2x1GB ports in 2023? Lower tier Intel 2020 CPU... No storage expansion allowed. However, it works as Plex transcoding and for some, it's enough.

Emby/Plex doesn't really need that much RAM (it benefits more from SSD R/W caching for loading menus quickly, etc.) It has the same CPU, ethernet ports and drive support as the DS920+. The only negative part regarding Emby/Plex for "some" users would the that it has no storage expansion, but I'm fairly certain that it's a small amount. Plusses of DS423+ over DS920+... Probably (hopefully) the price. No real negative parts regarding Emby/Plex for DS423+ vs DS920+ other than the missing expandable storage (for whoever needs it).
