Ok so there is more 3090 users than the whole rx6000 series. I think steam survey is on crack.

All of those Nvidia cards were probably detected from a single mining warehouse.

"Noone" wants rx 6000 series compared to nVidia 30 series, so maybe most people are on crack?
Look at 3dmark, and you will see the same trend there with numbers of subs with 30 series cards vs rx 6k cards...

It's a silly survey performed via steam. It does not mean a ton either way. Too many variables and possibilities including Steam getting some funds from one vendor or both to influence that in a certain direction.
I don't trust that any more than the gas lighting BS that is political polling.

Discrete GPU market share Nvidia 81% vs AMD 19% for 1st Q 2021.

Regardless of the Steam survey, its been a long estabished trend that Nvidia by far exceeds AMD dGPU sales for years.

I have a 6000 series card and don't have a Steam account.
Perhaps Nvidia owners like Steam, AMD owners don't... 😀

I think this comes down to supply since everything they make is sold really I mean if AMD was capable of making the same amount of cards as nvidia in this current market we would see a 1-1 in terms of sales for AMD and Nvidia cards. The demand is there Nvidia just has far more production with Samsung than AMD does with tsmc.

In a time of limited chip production, AMD did the obvious choice.
They can charge 500$ msrp for a CPU like the 5800X, this is a 80 mm2 chip on 7nm. Then they only need to ad packaging, a cooler and a box.
But for a GPU, they can charge 500$ msrp, for a 6700XT. This is a 336 mm2 chip on 7nm. And then they still need to ad vram, pcb, cooler, vrms, chokes, hdmi, DP, usb ports, etc.
The profit margin for a CPU is much bigger, than for a GPU.

Probably because AMD supply is constrained with TSMC, Nvidia using Samsung so aren't directly fighting for supply against AMD/Apple an everyone else on TSMC 5nm process.

No wonder they remain double MSRP, too many cows on the planet.

Writer of this news item clearly missed something. You see, AMD has made huge gains on Radeon HD 8800 series:
AMD Radeon HD 8800 Series 0.46% 0.51% 0.58% 0.62% 0.70%
I doubt many recognize this. Let me help:

This outlines how badly RTX 3090 sells. AMD sells almost double amount 2012 OEM GPU's than Nvidia sells their flagship card 😛
