Congrats Volvo. How does this compare to XBL and PSN btw? And do something about your support staff!!!

Steam did better at staying up? Steam, or some portion of Valve's games and servers are down or lagging everyday. My gaming experience in Valve games is roughly equivalent to when I played on a modem. It's just a similar experience, with games ending due to poor network conditions, lag, packet loss, and downtime...Honestly Valve's record in this regard is quite poor.

Volvo came from the /r/dota2 community. When a desired event that came every halloween wasn't gonna get implemented they started calling Valve Volvo because thats how russians pronounce it. (Russians are the most hated people on Dota 2). They started spamming Volvo's facebook page and Volvo even talked to valve saying "Hats are good valve, but we want Diretide" (Diretide is the halloween event.) Twitch chat adopted this and now its everywhere.

Connecting to Dota 2 Network...

I mean it definitely depends on where you live but not because of internet speed. Valve simply can't keep their servers up in the US. They are constantly down. I can't even remember the last consistent 3-4 dota games I played that didn't have some kind of lag or network issue in between them. Mainly because they patch the game so often and for some odd reason, need to take down their entire network to do said patch.

It has nothing to do with Valve The problem server cause by user server Keep in mind that Valve simply doesn't have any local host server only master list of diff server (Recall Game Spy?) that conn to them which add IP address to it list of min diff server all around world depend on the game by us user who run game server unlike Xbox Live, PSN, Nintendo Network and even some PC game (EA Origin, Ubisoft Uplay) which do local host on there end so even wonder why so min old PC game still have Multi-player support after 15+ years, so you see it will be a lot harder for the hacker the take down valve that just one min reason why PC are better.

Dota 2 MM servers are hosted by Valve. Granted they are probably in public datacenters but Valve is still responsible for them. There is no local host system for MM.

Idk man, netherlands sure has speed internet but the pure bandwith some ISP's give you in Denmark/Sweden is absolutely crazy. literally 800mb/600mb 1ms ping. Our silly 100mb connection can't compete with that, even when Amsterdam is the biggest data gateway on the world.

Going through Steam to play Bioshock Infinite, not so much using it otherwise.

Never would have thought single activation DRM would become so popular let alone accepted. Especially given the fact that it violates consumer protection laws in many countries. But I've stopped being shocked at the ludicrous stuff that happens in the USA. When will they start putting single use codes on console games??? I've got popcorn set aside for when that goes down...

I tried the NL Servers for Steam, still total crap. 7-8mb/s download speed on a 152mb connection, hard to stomach when Usenet is twice as fast all the time. Steam is by far the slowest, most unstable of all the DD services right now, even UPlay starts up quicker, so it might want to keep quiet.

you must live in an area with poor ISP, ISP speeds and/or poor latency with the game servers you are connecting to I live in the UK and whilst my internet speed is fine for me it's not exceptionally fast (up or down) compared to the rest of the developed world (152Mbps down, 12Mbps up) and I have rarely had any server connection issues or gaming lag in many, many years of using steam / playing online. I've been gaming online for last 12 years or so where do you live and who is your ISP and what package? I installed several titles on steam over xmas and they levelled out about 130-140Mbps

It has nothing to do with his ISP. It has to do with their US servers being bad. I have 75/75 on FIOS and generally hit 100/100 in actual testing and yet I still have problems with Valve servers. Every other game works fine -- then hop in Dota 2 or CSGO and it all goes to ****. Their MM servers are trash and their network here is down constantly.
