Just to correct one little intro mistake, you can set your broadcasts to be watched by anyone (As long as they're logged into Steam) The 4 privacy settings are:
Disabled;
Friends can request to watch;
Friends can watch;
Anyone can watch (When logged into Steam)

It is good feature, and people actually like to see what and how you play. Worked quite well even in beta.

i noticed this last night while having a look at steams setting and was broadcasting my Flight sim x flight from blackpool to manchester lol 🙂 , but no one watched 🙁 lol

Couple seconds lag, test it yourself by watching your own stream
It might work in competitive games though, mostly for camping
But you would just disable broadcasting in a competitive game anyway, wouldn't want anything taking up your bandwidth and it'll get rid of the whole screen cheat thing.

I found this locked the fps to 30 wile you game.
Not sure if they fixed this fault.

This is freaking awesome! This great for when someone is bugging me to buy a game they want to play online together. Now I can watch them play for awhile and decide if I want to purchase it or not. Also could be a tool for leagues to determine cheating. Then there are those times when I might use it when I am bored. As for someone wanting to view my game, I couldnt give a crap. Im not the best or the worst and I have nothing to hide.

You can have all the things that this news item says you can't. You can even stream your desktop if you want.

Delay on the broadcast is around 7 seconds when I counted it.
