OK... good. Would love to have game streaming working without being on same network. But VPN works on android too.
Not like you can play some fps, but a lot of good "point and click" games exist.

Seriously, might be a good idea, at least they're testing out the technical possibilities. I already though steam in home streaming from PC to PC already was a good thing to give people. I wonder, does this app use Vulkan when run on mobile devices?

Meanwhile their PC client looks and acts like an app designed in early 2000s.
Steam Client does't even support DPI scaling. Oh wait, they added it as beta like two months ago and only for Windows 10 Update 4 of 5. Overlay DPI scaling was added late last year. It only took them like few years. 😀
Meanwhile Origin and Uplay were completely redesigned to meet modern customer needs.
Steam Client is such a messy bloatware these days, and they focus on things like:
- updating the way that comments are handled in game reviews;
- scoring of game reviews;
- facelifting of Wishlist webpage.
- and now streaming from PC to Android tablets, who needs that?

While I agree that steam is bloated and could do with some paring down, I still prefer it to Origin which I find overly "streamlined", to the point where it just looks like a smartphone app and is about as annoying to use.
Granted, some of that may be due to how little I use Origin.

It's been in beta since over half a year and went to release few months ago. It uses Windows 10 1607 API. So time to upgrade your system. Upgrade is totally free.
Origin does not fully support DPI scaling. There are many elements remains non-scailed, like menus, popup dialogs.

As I said it was only added for Windows 10 the newest update. It doesn't work on Windows 7, Windows 8 / 8.1 and early versions of Windows 10. Other apps including competitive game DRM clients (Origin and Uplay) do work on variety of Windows operating systems.
All elements are scalled. They just adjusted the the size of those elements because they were too big in early version of Origin with High DPI scalling.
The fact that something is free doesn't make it good or better. Anyway Windows 10 in not free last time I checked. Besides that there is nothing in that system that would make me prefer it over Windows 8.1.

I think more and more people are wanting to stream games from their main gaming rig to their HTPC as such machines are attached 4k TVs and Projectors.
Even for 1080p gaming I'd rather stream than have my MSI gaming laptop's fan ramping up and being noisy.
I currently have tried using the hardware Steamlink device, but this cannot pass through a good steering wheel/pedal setup as it does not have the CPU power (75% CPU is used to stream 1080p, last 25% is for everything else and not dropping USB packets is top priority or else = bluescreen PC crash) to deal with such fine input controller info. It is a well known fault that can cause fps to drop commonly to 15fps and even as low as 2 - 5 fps.
I've not used it since I found such incredibly poor limitations.
Rainway has entered open Beta now and can stream to any device + is Free. I'll be giving that a try when I have some spare time 🙂

Yup, uses any input(aside from touch screen controls) you have. Which for something like an Nvidia Shield handheld, this is perfect. Or, an Amazon fire stick or TV with an ethernet adapter...

Not for a long time now. Mrs got iPhone 6s a while back, tried a few games very briefly just to see performance and never tried it again.

It too k quite a while to find few good games where you do not have to pay $1000+ to enjoy it. That's biggest problem of android games. If they are any good, they usually have pay2win micro-transactions to ruin it for large part of community.
And I do not think that gaming on android or mobile devices is something people do very little, quite contrary, handheld game consoles are still quite popular. Issue is that Android devices have rarely good and fair games. But this...
@fantaskarsef : if your android device supports OTG, then you can have mouse and keyboard in USB hub, I had that even on android 2.2. If not, you need BT compatible set which comes without USB key... like logitech K380/K811 and mouse like logitech M535. Or just some cheap micro BT keyboard with touchpad/gamepad sticks/cross from china.
Important thing to note is, that even last time I checked, mouse on android has basically only left click. And all other buttons (if they work) behave like left click. (at least for android based applications)

Well given that Steam is now the house of reuploaded shovel ware that costs nothing on the Play store I guess it makes sense for Valve to make it so that crap games you can get for free on the Play Store can now be played in their native format after you have paid for them on their store. I mean why would they spend any time or effort updating their stupidly out of date client to make it work faster, look better and be more efficient for folk playing games on their PC when their is that vast market on Steam Greenlight... or whatever their stupid shovelware dumping ground is now called to cater for?

It doesn't matter. It's an ancient version of OS available to update for free. If you don't need up-to-date OS, well, you can use older version of Steam as well. It's completely free via clean install.
They are not. At least menus, including tray menu and dialogs are not scaled. And scaling is broken on Windows 1803 at all. Steam works flawlessly.

Nvidia Gamestream on Shield TV requieres the use of an Nvidia GPU on the PC side to stream the screen of your PC who must run Windows OS.
This streaming app will be able to stream from a PC (Windows, Linux, MAC) hosting the Steam libray with OR without an Nvidia GPU.
