I'm halfway with yards on this. They say that it's not the engine that defines the look of the game, but instead it's the assets and the implementation, but there is something about xray engine that makes Stalker particularly gritty and simply fitting. Mind you this Cryengine implementation looks great, but just maybe a notch smoother than I would like.

I love Cryengine and its scalability. Porting Stalker assets over would have me play it again since my heavily modded trilogy is sitting on my HD with no love.

This is so bad ass!! When and where are they (if they are even) talking about getting our hands on this bad boy?!? And given that this is a remake.....This is a stand alone type thing, or and add-on deal? I'll get it either way as I have the original three and they're great in so many ways.

Off topic..... Hey Hilbert....I was noticing from your PC specs you have the Creative S750 Gigaworks 7.1 surround sound system. Unless I am wrong and I do apologize, but is that something you've had over the years, or came by not to long ago? Only reason I ask is that I have that particular system, but it is dead in the water ATM and has been collecting dust over the years. I'd love to know if you have any information on these speakers regarding possible servicing....anywhere in the world I would not care. These speakers really freakin jam. Just to bad they died years ago...

I agree, Open X-Ray is out there, you can try it in Stalker CoC and it's simply amazing, a really butter experience and some glitches of the original engine are fixed, multithread is finally there and runs good even on old hardware.

GSC released a game a few months ago, they are still operating. They still own the rights for it too.

I actually enjoyed the videos. The sounds they used bought back some of the atomosphere and the graphics are nice enough.

Atmosphere killed as soon as I heard a grunt shouting "got a visual" like some kind of space marine. Obviously this is heavy WIP but unless they match or improve upon the AI and Alife system, this will just be a pretty imitation.
