Great disappointment I do not see a difference in speed between 981 and 960

With higher core counts on the Cpu you still do not see much of an improvement. This type of drive / storage is only useful for shifting large blocks of data fast not much use for a OS drive.

I've been waiting for news on the 970/980 ssds for ages.
I've been planning to buy a 2TB 960 but read at the start of august that the new ones might be around the corner but have heard nothing since.
The 950 and 960 were out by this time in the last 2 years so given that there is literally no news so far on the proper 970/980 pro for example...I just wonder how much longer I will have to wait.

Someone is moving the goal posts...and someone who owns a gtx480 is going to raid 2 m.2 sata drives....yeah not happening.
Does your motherboard to match that ancient gpu even have m.2 slots? And if it does, you are going to use likely all of your motherboards m.2 slots just for the smallest capacity boot drive in raid money can buy, what a waste of money.
Drive speeds go up with drive capacity, the 256gb drive is the slowest of them all, also with the lowest rated endurance of them all, why would you raid 2 of the slowest, smallest and lowest endurance drives of the series,l which takes up 2 slots and 2x 4x pci lanes....just for a boot drive.
Gee golly gosh those boot times on that drive that will fit zero games will be mighty impressive. If you are using it for compression or video conversion you might even be able to fit a single short video on it 😀....oh but in record time of course.
The drives in this article compared to the 960pro 256gb are 440,000 IOPS vs the 85,000 IOPS and 2400gb/s vs 900gb/s write and 3200mb/s vs 2200mb/s

Less well than 960 PRO ?

Oh goodie goodie goodie *rubs hands wildly*
Can't wait for the nextgen to appear so prices on existing 960 EVO drop, or the new "980 EVO?" being faster, cooler at similar price with today's 960.
