so it totally trade blows with the 8700k ! >>>>> IF <<<< those are not fake ...well lot of us in here called it :P

Interesting. Maybe save some $$ and get 2700x and get 16 treads? 🙂 Best to see HH's review. I am sure most want to see how it OCs.

LOL. With 2700X @ £282 and 2700 @ £252 makes no sense not only to buy the 9700K at it's rumoured price, but even the 8700K at it's current price..... And for what? 1fps at 1080p at best? While it consumes 33% more power!!!!! Because lets not forget the posted benchmarks if true, are the first ones having Z370 boards fully patched with the security patches, and no cheating by the reviewers using unpatched boards any more. (as they cannot run the 9xxx CPU series).

What is TSX in the instruction set? I haven't seen that one before.

So where's the Tom's Hardware article on this? "When your whole life flashes before you, how much of it do you not want to have 1 more FPS than a 8700K?" 😛

These results would make a lot of sense there shouldnt be an IPC change far as i know anyway, and more cores are great for somethings but many games still don't use muti-core and many use one core manly with 1/2 offload cores... Past couple of years we haven't seen much gain in terms of fps gains from CPU's mostly comes from GPU's atm till i guess we get a high enough framerate that 4k and even 1440p wont be so bottlenecked by GPU's

Imagine what numbers that beast of a CPU would push if it had hyper-threading!

Note really much more as you could compare the 9600K to the 8700K... I knew this 9700K wouldn't be interesting, powerful as a less expensive 8700K, the 2700 and the 2700X stay more interesting because way cheaper and sometime in some applications they are more powerful. This 9700K is useless. The 9900K will be a bit better than the 2700X, let say around 10-15% better in application.

Same ipc as 8700K 🙁

No it's not the same ipc. But it is close, the 8700K is running at a slightly higher clockspeed while being slightly slower. It's not much difference either way, but it does indicate that the ipc is very slightly higher.

And no AVX 512. No new instructions, still 14nm, this is just a 9600k with 2 more cores.

TOMS wont review this CPU they will just say JUST BUY IT you need this 1 fps boost in your life

We will see the 9900K tested. Gaming will be virtually the same and multi threaded testes will get better.

Much better if you take streaming and multitasking into account.

I've been curious to see how 2 extra real cores compares with 6 virtual ones in multithreaded tasks, looks like 8/8 and 6/12 end up being pretty similar if these are legit
data/avatar/default/avatar13.webp
6/12 over 8/8 I think is the best option nowadays

Tom's would probably just tell you to go ahead and buy it. Because it is worth paying top dollar to be ahead of the curve, before they even reviewed the product. Just because.

Can't wait for them to include DXR games into bench-group. They'll be running them 640x400 just to see sufficient difference in results.

Intel is in trouble.

Gamer'snexus did a good overview on Toms. Even toms own writers are embarrassed of the crap that's been coming out lol
