Lol how free will is related? Just regulations, in europe there are regulations on how you heat up the water for pollution and consumption for example.

I don't mind if they limit household items at a max watts. Been like that in my country for vac cleaners and some other things already for years. They can start by forcing stores to shut down their lights and other shit during night. Since multi gpu isn't that common for most gamers nowadays i doubt the regulations will bother us much.

This will just force the gpu makers to make more power efficient video cards which is good..... instead of now which is basically how hot can we run it before it melts.

This is all obviously a preemptive strike to reduce overall electricity usage in these states before the huge increase in usage coming as more people replace their "gas" cars with full electric. They have stated many times that there is not enough electricity actually generated in these states to power everyone using EVs in future (and only solution is more power stations or reduce other things using electricity).

That is a method to fight aging or decreasing population. It would inevitably increase demand for resources like food, energy etc.

I don´t mind this kind of ideas and i think there should be a power limit regarding individual parts, like max 125w for a CPU and max 250w for a GPU because i don´t like the way companies are pushing the power envelope to extract more performance.
But what i really hate is the hypocrisy regarding the environment discussion. They want common people to be more eco friendly and in Europe are even "forcing" people to buy EVs but rich folks continue to buy multiple houses and cars, consume everything they want and use their private jets to travel the world without any type of restrictions!...o_O
And even worse, then we have to wear those guys complaining that the world is too polluted and then common people should be aware of it and stop polluting so much... 😡
I also thought of that, maybe they are doing this to reduce the power used by miners although they won´t care anyway...
Sorry but i can´t agree with this type of thinking, specially because i´m the younger of three brothers.
