There is a chance that this will actually come out before Star Citizen. All jokes aside, if this ever makes it out, it looks like it's gonna be pretty amazing.

Its amazing community can pull off something like this, but why to re-create something ancient on top of something almost as ancient is beyond me.

Why didn't they just contribute toward OpenMW? That project already has good progress and it's open source. https://openmw.org/en/

I doubt it. By the time something playable is released TES6: Hammerfell (or Redfall?) will be out and they want to start porting the current project with the new engine. Happens with most of these projects. MW should've been ported with the Oblivion engine, never happened. Went onto Skyrim, we got a trailer now. Still waiting for DaggerXL, which is more dead than alive. I always hope deep inside, but stopped caring tbh.

Dont have much faith in community driven projects. Sure they may be talented in getting the graphics or engine mechanics right, but you need experienced game studios to flesh out the best possible gameplay along with a reasonable story or plot to draw you in. What other projects has this community come up with to get us excited for this?

Because when the project started it wasn't ancient, besides that the people interested in this don't care if something is "ancient".

Totally different things. OpenMW is a just an open source port of MW. This is a complete remake on a Skywind engine. All content is 100% original (bar the texts).
