Isn't this just the same as playing Skyrim with all those mods that make the game look better?

Its the same as buying a game youve already got just to play it with visuals that dont match what enb and reshade can already do. This i image will be dx11, so no enb, but the up side is that the avg pc gamer who doesnt dabble with that stuff can enjoy a better looking version without needing to mess with mods with enb while still having the option of texture/gameplay etc mods if they so choose and the advantage of the 64bit platform. And tbh, i think this may even be the version for me (if its free) as the amount of time i spent modding skyrim vs actually playing it was more in favor of modding. Then again, Skyrim is pretty repetitive after a while. There was some reason i stopped playing, mods or gameplay...one of them, maybe both.

It is free if you own the base game and all the DLC. http://store.steampowered.com/app/489830/

Disagree regarding ENB. Enb is trash which consumes excessive resources for picture quality resulting in LAG fest and FPS drops due to zero optimization. Yes it look better, now what? Unless you are nude-mod frienzy waifu creator, that spams screenshots and acts important on some junk such as flickr (or what every those Yet another screenshot makers use now) all of that stuff is irrelevant. If you are a person like me which actually enjoys modding the game to achieve both Good picture, gameplay mods suited for you and at same time good performance - then this edition will be amazing. It will be clearly better optimised than mod-fest of l33t graphical mods of "i can make flowers with 4k texture that i will notice only with magnifying glass". Take my comment with a grain of salt, however it will surely in its BASE form perform better. Besides it will improve and make various aspects of engine more up to date, hopefully performance and mod-ram usage limit will be improve/ removed altogether. Resulting in a more up to date Skyrim experience with option to further mod it without downloading yet another 50 gigs of texture/ model packs to fix blocky cheese model. I am not sure how well the compatibility of this edition will be with mods, however i assume they Should work with it. At least most of them.

If you know how to use enb, then its easy to get an amazing image without tanking fps and as you said about 4 textures that are only really apapreant when looked via a magnifying glass, if you use more suitable 2k textures, then you can also avoid unnecessary fps drops. Its about balance. Enb has been a massive bonus in modding compatible games, even the latest versions of stalker cant match SOC when it pared with a decent enb preset. Wnb allows you to adjust individual light sources and the light/dark levels of grounds, trees, grass and buildings all separately. Its options like those that allow enb to stand above anything devs themselves put out in games.

I've spent hours reading the STEP guides on tweaking ENB and I was able to tweak my ENB to run at 50-60fps on a GTX 680. I've had many good compliments on my game and people begging for my enb. So no, I don't believe that for one sec.

I never even tried ENB as I didn't have a video card making it possible. My current might be able to support it, but I had played Skyrim through more or less completely a few times, so I didn't feel like it anymore. I might have a look at this updated Skyrim if SKSE and SkyUI get compatible versions, making other essential mods able to run. I never played FO4 so I have got no personal experience of Volumetric Nvidia Rays making AMD cards kneel down and eat dirt! I need to see it for myself.

Great! However for me 50-60 FPS is sub-par performance. Besides i am certain that is in a non-combat environment, add some action, lots of npc's, and stuff happening around and you will get even further sub part performance. Fluid 100+ fps on 1440p with good visuals, thats what im looking for as a bare minimum for this amazing game. Re-shade 3.0 recently released is a step forward, All of the ENB is two steps backwards in my opinion.

Rest assured, they make Nvidia cards beg for mercy as well. Its another classic example of push visuals down the throat, ignoring performance. Nowadays sadly a lot of companies absolutely IGNORE optimization, resulting in two games coming out same year having drastically different performance on same hardware. "cough cough Mafia 3"

The game is free on Steam if you own Skyrim Legendary Edition (or normal Skyrim + DLC.) Anyway, the enhanced edition is good imo, since the updated engine should finally allow for better lighting mods (if the new engine is similar to the Fallout 4 one.) The lighting system on the original engine sucked ass. Mods couldn't do anything about it.

All Bethesda games had physics engines that break the game if you go past 64FPS. Around 75FPS seemed to be the maximum you can get away with, with the game breakage being at a tolerable level. I doubt this one will be any different. If you're hoping for 120FPS/120Hz experience, I think you're gonna be disappointed. The game will most probably glitch out so much as to be unplayable at that frame rate.

Says it will cost me £19 to add the missing DLC to my Skyrim so I can get this for free lol

It's Skyrim on the updated Creation Engine that's used in Fallout 4.

Yeah, funny how Bethesda promised us that Fallout wouldn't be anything like TES and yet here we are with TES now becoming more like Fallout. They even stole perks and slow-mo kill shots from it!

Haha! Indeed, i have had those experiences in the past with jigga jagga water sounds. My skyrim managed to work "FINE" on 90 fps, however above that was bad engine issues. However fingers crossed that this is fixed on the updated engine version.

Hoping that nehrim gets updated for this version, the crashing is crippling

Yay a better version that I don't have to waste a ton of time modding. I was never good at modding skyrim so this is good for me loved the game and I own all the dlc's.

I'm just curious, will this new bit give modders a new base to make even better looking mods with?

Oh look, another 'Edition' of an already released game, how original!
