I'm not optimistic about the outcome of this case but EA deserves all the bad press it gets. Good enough for me :P

Let's hope this class action lawsuit will cause them to think twice about this release then fix model they have been using the last few years.

Peter Moore will shrug it off and say "Companies get sued.".

Used to be that the stock market involved risk for investors. Seems now it only involves risk for companies....

I wonder how this effects Dice, since this is there game property...oh and BF4 was one of the worst game releases i experienced, so yes punishment should be served in way or another.

I think EA owns everything now so it shouldn't affect them.

awesome. Ive wanted this since day 1 of the beta. It was total crap and I've made no secret it was a pile of steaming s**t. Companies need to realize that, as consumers, we hold the power over them, at least those of us that are not completely programmed by their propaganda campaigns. This also should hopefully change how games are released and how complete they are on 'release day'. One can hope anyway. Not sure why its ONLY on the PS4, when every platform was crap all in all. It showed promise but this 'final' they have released is nothing more than an alpha release candidate at BEST. I hope there isn't any kind of settlement, EA needs to be taught a lesson and be made an example of.

If EA owns Dice, it's going to harm Dice....as well as any other game studio owned by EA.

Good luck suing EA

You're expecting way too much. This will have no effect on game development, other than slowing it. This has nothing to do with consumers. It's about a group of greedy lawyers seeing an opportunity to line their pockets "in the name of shareholders". When it goes to court, they'll omit that there was a launch day update for the PS4 and try to make it look like financial projections were intentionally falsified (even though the projections were made MONTHS in advance and are generally seen only as a company's confidence in their upcoming product sales). Best case outcome, things continue like they've been. Worse case, customers get screwed by higher prices and cookie cutter games to reduce risk for the dev studios.

Well..one is allowed to hope 🙂 It's a start that the motion was even FILED, so lets not rain on things too badly on day 1...lets see how things work out 🙂 again, one can hope 🙂

i thought EA is Dice publisher and Dice being the Developer of the game itself.

Investors bought stock in EA based on financial projections. The projections were wrong due to unforeseen circumstances. Sony released an update for the PS4 that devs had no time with prior to release. As a result of the unforeseen circumstances, investors lost money. That's generally the risk involved with the stock market. If EA loses this case, it'll set precedent for everyone who invests in the stock market and loses money to sue the companies they invest in. When you invest in a company by purchasing stock, there shouldn't be any guarantees other than the fact that stock value has the potential to fluctuate....unless of course the company intentionally falsifies financial data ....

Have you read the actual article? This case has nothing to do with consumers other than that there weren't enough consumers to drive up EA's stock value up. As skyozis and the actual article stated, the case is about some lawfirm trying to capitalize on some crazy notion that companies have responsibility to correctly foresee the future. It's as if only skyozis and I read the article while everyone else is just happy that EA and the word "sued" is in the same sentence.

[sarcasm] In Dota2 I invested money to buy "win counter" item. However, in matchmaking I keep getting stuck with players who have no idea how to play Dota2. While enemy team got 5 man party owning like crazy. I gonna sue Valve for putting me with new players in matchmaking. [/sarcasm] Tell me more.

I wonder why?
Effectively, the allegation is that Electronic Arts "issued materially false and misleading statements" regarding the quality of Battlefield 4, leading to strong financial guidance which in turn meant the company's share prices rose. The complaint further alleges that Electronic Arts executives sold shares at the inflated prices, before the stock abruptly fell once the game was available and the many problems players have been having with the title first became apparent. Bugs itemized as part of the filing include "downloadable content that allowed players access to more levels of the game, a myriad of connectivity issues, server limitations, lost data and repeated sudden crashes, among other things."

The acceptance of gamers when its comes to post release patches has become to lax, if gamers actually did what they threaten to do all the time, that being 'Game is trash, will not buy another gamer from company X' and actually follow through on those threats, then maybe we'd get somewhere. We've allowed publishers (and it is the publishers imo) to get away with it. It'd be nice if the gaming community had something like the game compatibility/performance pages that are available for Dolphin games, for all games released on all platforms. I find myself playing consoles and older pc games more than new release titles more than ever this year gone.
