Not just Windows 11, the last security update for Windows 10 has caused havoc with my client machines. We've already had to take about a dozen or more back to the bench for wipe and imaging.

Ever since MS fired the Windows Q&A team, that users have become guinea pigs. Microsoft really needs to change their modus operandi back to having people testing updates, before releasing them, to the public.

Thats why the updates should always be defered, at minimum 2 weeks, and I'm saying for both professional and personal level, because nowadays, a Windows update can break many things.

I had this. Update never installs, it tries too, but fails. Ended up formating to resolve.

Pay attention my build 25163 Dev has problems interacting with mouse and keyboard in Halo Infinite ... can't actually play, I have not tested anything else because I format and move to a stable build .I have reported the problem via feedback

It's fixed with the latest preview builds 22621.436 and 22622.436

Was going to add that what complicates the Win11 situation is having so many builds out at the same time. I just managed to update to 22622.436 today, after some problems encountered after I switched channels to the release preview channel--even though Microsoft and WU both gave me the green light. After that, the system froze updating to a CU (none of Microsoft's troubleshooting tools or other scripts resolved the problem), so I wound up restoring a Macrium reflect backup of C:\ of beta channel 22621.100, which, fortunately, allowed me to update to the latest beta channel build, 22622.436. I would advise caution to anyone switching channels even if you get the green light from Microsoft to do so--it may inject problems with the new channel on down the update road, as I found.

You can remove CU's and return to 22621.1 at any time Walt, no need to restore an image.

Been off of 11 for about a month. Guess it will be a while before I go back.

Just had that issue with W10 without warning and needed my desktop PC for work use today. It ran 1.5hrs looping! I swear I need to buy a rabbits foot, 4 leaf clover & holy water when it does an update.I set my settings to warn me and do what I gotta do but almost every time it does it it does it forcefully. Oddly after this update my system that I built, (Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB 3200mhz, 1TB/512GB SSD, RX580) was lagging when opening Windows programs so I restarted it and runs fine again. I had one update months ago where it messed up my Nano receiver. God I hate MICROSOFT.

Sorry for the question but who uses the internet explorer mode if the same has been downgraded

Apart from the memes, Windows is the only OS that has such bad update mechanisms at this point. It's beyond a meme. A bunch of smelly nerds managed to create better systems almost thirty years ago. WinGet is on the right track, but I don't see them even allowing it to be remotely close to Windows update. By the way, the only way to semi-reliably update systems via scripting in Windows, is to create your own Win32 application. Even Powershell is useless without a 3rd party addon, which sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

So, another reason to stay on Windows 10, at least in regards to using Windows.
