Probably Seagate signed the pledge because they know they will open almos any patent because their business is very far from the relevants ones in this coronavirus crisis, I don't know all the Seagate patents but probably most of them are about digital storage and not about vaccines or medicine in general (they could know a thing or two about clean rooms).
