In theory SSDs could go faster, but Sata limits them too much. What we need is either to move away from sata into a new type of connection, or for a new revision of sata that doubled the bandwidth at least

Because Memory Card use cheap memory that is not suited for continuous rewrites and would quickly die in a typical PC usage scenarios?

in real-usage we wont fully using 6gbps transfer rate all time anyway so it back on usage, SSD vs NVME not whole different like SSD to HDD feels imo only when fully using the max transfer rate, it feel whole different, if on SSD (SATA) it need a minute to transfer file, it only take like 20secs on NVME

? I've been using a 64gb SD card in my camera for over a year now. Every day taking photos. Works like it did on the 1st day. Are you saying SD cards aren't reliable? Why? Think I heard the same talk when SSDs came along too. We all know how that turned out.

you can't compare an SSD to a SD card in durability, Try using an SD card as a cache drive for windows and see how long it last for, take a few photos a day is nothing compared to amount of read/writes an SSD would handle as a boot drive for windows.

Cameras don't need to write picture and video data as fast or as much as say 20 minutes playing Skyrim. But I'm gonna warn you to calm it down right now, and don't continue this.

I know many people that lost their photos and videos because of broken/corrupted SD cards
