ooo, ooo, can't wait! 😛

Strange Times
so now 5500=6500=580

As if this poor card needed any more memory.
Anyone using it will be limited to 1080p, who needs more than 4Gb at that resolution?
With the price increase you're better saving and getting RX6600 instead.

Might be useful to avoid the GPU to go over the PCI bus to get data from ram.
Considering that this card only has PCIe 4.0 x4, it's probably a good thing

This card being so limited by the bus actually needs 6-8gb to reduce that bottleneck, could be a decent card now but the added price will ruin that.

As others have pointed out, a 4GB 480/580 holds up fairly well today. Data has to swap in and our just as often (actually, probably more often since I don't think that architecture compressed data as much) yet it doesn't cripple performance because the memory is fast enough to swap the buffer, and the PCIe bus is wide enough to feed more data.
If the 6500XT only had a wider memory bus, that wouldn't solve the problem because the data feed over PCIe would still be too slow. I don't think Sapphire has much control over this.
If the 6500XT only had more PCIe lanes, that also wouldn't be enough because the memory bus is too narrow to swap data in and out quickly enough. Sapphire definitely has no control over this.
But with 8GB instead of 4GB, it doesn't have to feed data as often and it doesn't have to constantly swap out its buffer. The memory bus is still too slow but there ought to be a noteworthy performance increase just simply because it's not wasting so many cycles swapping the buffer. This is a reasonable option that Sapphire can actually take action on.
Now the only question is: what will it be priced at, because the original 4GB was severely overpriced.
EDIT:
From what I recall, this GPU had reasonable performance so long as it didn't run out of VRAM.

good to see, really should have launched with an 8gb sku.
also as for how they got 8gb, 4GB chips are already available( gddr chips are 32bits wide), and are used mainly on quadro/tesla and firepros/instinct cards

too bad for the crippled pci-e connection
