That is correct, servers need higher and higher densities, you can already purchase 256Gb ddr4 for around €3000. Will be interesting to see what price these come in at

The article says "Samsung's DDR5 stacks eight layers of 16Gb DRAM chips to offer the largest capacity of 512GB" No explanation. Are the 8x 16Gb chip stacks a single 16GB chip without parity? It looks like it. If so, 32 of them will be needed to give a Ram stick of 512GB without parity, 36 with parity, Huge! If its supposed to be 512Gb (64GB), only 4 of them are needed with no parity, however, that doesnt fit with the opening statement: "Samsung expanded its DDR5 DRAM memory portfolio with the industry's first 512 GB DDR5 module" Wikipedia says a memory module is a ram stick So it appears to be a very large stick with 32x or 36x 16GB (128Gb each) chips!
