You're sitting 2ft away from an LCD emitting blue, you likely have a smartphone that emits blue Never heard of it burning out retinas, but can supposedly keep you awake, hence night light on most devices now

Your avatar burnt the guru3d logo in my retina.

Do you see it when you look at a white wall now? 😀

@astanyax: except that it does. So here you are.
New findings confirm earlier concerns that "exposure to an intense and powerful [LED] light is 'photo-toxic' and can lead to irreversible loss of retinal cells and diminished sharpness of vision," the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) warned in a statement...The report distinguished between acute exposure of high-intensity LED light, and "chronic exposure" to lower intensity sources. While less dangerous, even chronic exposure can "accelerate the ageing of retinal tissue, contributing to a decline in visual acuity and certain degenerative diseases such as age-related macular degeneration," the agency concluded...LED cellphone, tablet and laptop screens do not pose a risk of eye damage because their luminosity is very low compared to other types of lighting, Francine Behar-Cohen, an ophthalmologist and head of the expert group that conducted the review, told journalists.
So based on that I'd say bingewatching the whole of GoT at living room distance on a ridiculously big fricking QLED TV can damage your eyes...so not just your brain.

exposure to an intense and powerful [LED] high-intensity LED light, and "chronic exposure" to lower intensity sources. Very extreme conditions to cause retina damage, not likely something a TV would cause

I'm missing a person (or banana) for scale next to it. 🙄 Imagine some delivery guy carrying this to your doorstep (or worse, your appartment on the top floor). With the size of this, I think Optimus Prime will be delivering it.

mini/micro-LED is looking interesting, as an aside. On topic: these particular LED's, purely from a pixel-perspective are best at great distance...like a football stadium, not someone's living room. Not even my living would be able to house that and it be effective.

A TV the size of a WALL would. Especially on the internet. Might as well stare straight into a beamer...:p But people's eye are really damaged by LED headlights according to that French agency. So that's a real issue right there. You go to work in the morning with those things blinding you, then you're staring at a screen all day long, and then you have to look into those headlights again on the way home.

"The target prices for the televisions in this The Wall Luxury series are not yet known, and perhaps that is for the better as well 🙂" That made me chuckle, thanks Hilbert 🙂

I don't want to buy a 292" unit only to have it become obsolete soon there after so I'm waiting for something bigger than that. Like, say, 500". Or wait until they just start using square footage as a measurement instead.

Because the target audiance allready have Ferrari's, Lambo's, Aston's etc in their garage(s). 😉 This is not for you average middle class users, this is for the "elite" of our society - they would buy it even if it was 5 million. One hell of a screen for your personal home theatre instead of a beamer setup 😀 I'm sure this won't be a mass produced product either, just a show off to other companies of what "we" are capable of.

I think this falls under the 'if you need to ask the price, you cant afford it' category 😀

need more report from reliable research if the only source is from that, and even that is from French ANSES which just covering common environmental things (not that saying they are not reliable or something like that) such things probably wont matter much for the rest of people anyway u can get ur retina burn from any high-intensity-light-sources, so why led cannot do that ? https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3144654/ https://www.surveyophthalmol.com/article/0039-6257(78)90070-X/pdf http://photobiology.info/Rozanowska.html
