That would be pretty interesting if they decide to skip 3000, but I guess it kinda makes sense if they do. Unlike AM4, they don't have any "throw-away" CPUs to lend to people to upgrade the BIOS. Though, it would be kinda funny if they lent over a 1900X so people could do an upgrade.
I'm sure people are going to expect PCIe 4.0 too, which just isn't going to happen on those boards. PCIe 4.0 made the X570 boards very expensive, so I can't imagine how much more that cost would multiply on a X599 board, which has so many more slots.
Personally, I find it a little odd that they'd even make a TR 4000 series. AM4 already has 16 cores. Assuming they make a fresh new AM5 socket for DDR5, wouldn't it make more sense to just squeeze in some more pins to replace TR entirely?

I have sad before, the upcoming TR will be 4XX0 SKU since there is no space left after 3950X that AM4 ha taken, this time AMD can play with Chiplet count to offer higher or lower Cache size, so they need at-least 5 SKU's for 16C/24C/32C/48C/64C.
Also new platform gonna be super expansive if they gonna use the large IO die form ROME as a chipset- it can use upto 40W IMO, so this new TR line won't be cheap since it won't have any competition from Intel when released.

Why would you name higher tier Threadripper with 16 as 3910X while the cheap AM4 16C called 3950X?
No chance.
Who knows, maybe they are even skipping 7nm and will use 7nm EUV?

Intel has left the chat...;)
Jokes aside, those CPUs are breaking the norm. Never before a normal user had so much computing power in a relative affordable platform.

To what I was made privy to under NDA by a 3rd party in 2018, Zen3 will come with PCIe 5.0 and DDR5.
This possibly means that an EPYC Zen3 launch end of 2020, and Ryzen Zen3 launch early 2021.

Holy crap, I didn't expect so many likes to my reserve post, so I think I'll leave it as it is as to not ruin it by editing it. (don't want to pull off a George Lucas)
By the way, the reason I posted early is cos of the time difference, +12GMT
