I wonder how it will compare against the 1600 AF.

Ah, "4/8", now it's very interesting.

it depends for the use case, for my cheap mame machine, a quad core with integrated apu would be great. Office pc too.

No, no, think about how good the I7 6700 and 7700 still are, given Zen2 are quite similar in performance, so I think they will be great buy by themselves, I mean as all use processors. Remember also you have the 3400G, although it's zen1+.

yeah that too, if you want to put full budget on your video card, and just take a decently clocked quad core for gaming. I hope they are decently clocked tho.

3.9Ghz And 4.3Ghz boosts says the article. Quite fine.

LOL I think this is a good move for cheap budget oriented devices. Course Intel didn't make a greater than 4-core consumer(non HEDT) part until April of 2018.

most People don’t need more that a quad core even for gaming. However lots of us like to do other things or are enthusiasts.

For gaming yes... But there is a HUGE demand of 4c/4t and 4c/8t for all other use of computer, it's for that reason AMD have let the Ryzen 3 1200 in their catalog until last month. And you can't imagine what i can do with an Athlon 200 GE 2c/4t that i have under the TV...

The zen serie build in zen+ with zen 2 instructions set and work on a X570 despite being serie 1000... what a great processor btw 🙂 It is near the level of a 2600 but below the price of the 3200G, the 2600 is already upper the 3200G... So if price are over 100 Euro, the 1600AF would be still a better choise. We have to see...

i wonder what price they expect to put on this, 50$ for 3100 and 70$ for 3300x? i mean they have a 6c12t model at like 80$, a bit more ipc while losing 2 cores doesnt sound better at all
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/34/34585.jpg
Well they will be very cheap most likely to apply pressure to the core i3 line up a 3100 should be equivalent to the 1600AF which no doubt 1st and 2nd gen CPU inventory is drying up so it's the next logical move really which will provide higher single threaded performance and on par with a 6 core 12 thread part in multi threaded if the 3600 vs 1800x/2700 is anything to go by.

There's a difference between 4/4 in a mid range 5 cpu and 4/8 in an entry level 3 cpu. Nobody expect to get a 8/16 or even 6/12 in a Core i3 or Ryzen 3.

This is interesting to me. Unlike many of you, I still don't have much need for more than 4 cores. These could be an excellent upgrade for my R3 1200, but I'd really like to get a 4 core apu (Zen2 cores) with a gpu as good as a 1050ti.

Will probably buy one for my 24/7 running home server. Currently using an old i7 CPU which is sucking up a LOT of electricity .... I would love to switch to that sweet 7nm efficiency and drop the amount of Watts my server uses in half ! 3200G wasn't enticing enough, it's just the old 14/12nm Zen+

4c/8t isn't dead for gaming either. Most games run perfectly fine on such a CPU. If you intend to do any kind of multitasking or go beyond 60Hz, sure, 4c/8t definitely isn't enough.
