RTX 4060 220W is fine, looks like that's gonna be my card then.

That'll smoke out the competition.

i already see rdna3 being much more efficient.

even the RTX 4080 may have a 420 W rating
So, this must be Sparta. 😉

I want nVidia to offer versions that use a discrete power supply that can plug into the back of the card. Make that orange and black, then we can refer to it as supplying Voodoo Volts. lol Ah, good times, good times. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voodoo_5#Voodoo_5_6000
The Voodoo 5 6000 is the unreleased high-end product in the Voodoo5 line. It was to use four 166 MHz VSA-100 processors, each with its own 32 MB of 166 MHz SDRAM, resulting in the first 128 MB graphics card (consisting of sixteen 8 MB chips). Approximately 1000+ test cards were produced. Because the card used more power than the AGP specification allowed for, a special power supply called Voodoo Volts had to be included with it. This would have been an external device that would connect to an AC outlet. Most of the prototype cards utilized a standard internal power supply molex power connector.
Either do that, or recycle the old "Bitchin' Fast!" moniker from the classic fake ad for an epic video card. https://vgamuseum.ru/wp-content/gallery/bitching-fast/bitchin.jpg

If it was MCM, then yes. But seeing as the latest rumors say no to that and both teams being on the same node, we'll have to see. Some of the earlier rumors were saying RDNA3 will be just as power hungry also.

This thing better be twice as fast as my RTX 3080 10GB card. I also need a water block for it ASAP after release.

We'll see i guess. I aim for the 4070 or 7700xt but at 400w is just too much. Even my current 2080S 250w is pushing it.

Perf per watt, who cares about tdp.

My AC is broke, and so am I. For winter is actually nice but I don't need a sauna during summer. GPU is capped at 200W for me, I want nothing more.

You folks talk like this thing runs at 420 and nothing else lol

It will run at 420 when you max out the card. Its like you posting 3070ti at 160w which is silly. Card consumes 300w as start pushing it.

Most people wont be undervolting or frame capping, so assuming you have a game open then yes: it will run at close to max TDP.

Nvidia it the wall, and is brute forcing performance in exchange of power consumption. Maybe they can revolutionize in the 5000 series and have a Maxwell/Pascal moment, but right now is not. Considering the price increse in the energy market, many people will feel the cost of this components in the end of the month.

i can do what i want in the 3070 owners thread, but sure lets just pretend UV and v sync don't exist for the sake of endless arguing. Don't tell me about the 3070.

Want to see how much under-volting can reduce power draw. Hope Hilbert can include such tests in reviews of high wattage cards.

Last I looked and checked my statement, energy prices are still climbing with no peak in sight. They have absolutely lost their minds.

sry for not having 3070 so cant talk to you lol

Undervolting is great i literally increased the core clock +100 with reduced voltage -025v with msi curve editior but not everyone does that. We cant expect average user knows everyting and its most out of the box experience.

Literally and figuratively! And itself!

People who have serious concerns about energy cost probably should not consider GPU's in the upper price ranges. Probably also look at energy saving measures period. Everybody has to make some compromises now and then.
