The 3080Ti having almost twice the cores than the 3080 seems a little fishy...

So I wonder what they are going to sell the 3060 for? It's probably going to edge out the 2070S which is 500$. Should be interesting.

I think they screwed up with the 3080Ti naming. They paired that card with the GA100 chip. But the GA100 chip is the full uncut version usually reserved for Titan models is it not?
Surely the 3080Ti would have the GA102 chip but there seems to be no mention of the GA102

Well, I'm not going to whine about price this time around, since I did skip the RTX 2000 series entirely because of it. So I'm psychologically and financially prepared for the 3080Ti to be at least what the 2080Ti was (and still is) at launch. I would love to be wrong of course, but I just don't see AMD competing at that high end. 😳

On the never-ending question witch of RDNA 2 and next gen NVIDIA will get the next performance crown, while NVIDIA are undoubtedly the favorite (at least in terms of probability), with the node jump they will be able to get (12nm to 7nm+??), AMD, while only benefiting of a small jump in density (7nm to 7nm+) have on the other end the advantage of die size of their actual flagship.
The 2080ti was huge and his successor will probably be smaller, I don't think they will release a ~750mm2 monster on a relatively new 7nm+ node....

Yes your right, I personally think the cuda core increase won't be as dramatic, we should not forget that rt core and tensors core will be back in probably bigger number and those take space as well. I personally think that NVIDIA will try to push RT even harder with the next generation...

We all know that if, for example, an RTX 3060 performs better than an RTX 2080, then it's priced higher than the RTX 2080, regardless of its manufacturing cost
I'm sure the 3xxx series will probably be much better performers than what AMD has to offer, but I'm also certain they'll be much more expensive.
As always, check your budget, see what performs better within that budget, and buy if you have to.
Of course, if budget is not an issue, buy what you like.
