Well, this killed my interest in 7800x3d

Also seen rumours of RDNA 4 may be released sooner than expected.

Well no, but don't expect releases to happen this fast either

No chance a new desktop part is coming this year from AMD They only have Raptor Lake refresh to contend with on desktop front this year, no need to unleash Zen5 for that

Will they ever release low end parts of the Zen4? Might even surprise with some 3D vcache on lower end parts.

It doesn't sound like Ryzen 8000 to me. Probably a refresh, and even then that's assuming the press release isn't plain wrong.

Zen 4 in theory came out last year, and here we are with barely any Zen 4 CPUs actually shipping. Personally, by the time Minisforum sells/delivers a mini-PC with a 7940HS (Zen4 RDNA3, probably around Q3/Q4), I'm pretty sure that the Zen5 RDNA4 version will be on everyone's mouths, but won't be available for another year. So... I'll have to buy at some point, right? Can't wait indefinitely. There's always something interesting "if you wait a little longer", and at some point something has to be good enough for your current needs ‍ 😕

Since when did yearly releases become unexpected? For the last two generations the x3D processors have basically been the mid-generation updates.

Well Lisa bring it on. Rdna4 and Zen5! Competition is great.

Gigabyte is hot on leaks lately.

Good that they do, intel is already skipping stuff because of this.

No point in them having a lead and stagnating like Intel did. Increased competition on all sides means they have to keep pushing forwards. Xilinx merger hopefully resulting in new innovations too.

As long as it's not a kind of "Zen+" with only a clock bump, that is fine by me if they release a new CPU generation a year after. These CPU (Zen 5 i mean) are compatible with AM5 and that would only mean Zen 6 would be compatible too unless they plan to release it in 3 years.

5000 series retail 6000 oem 7000 retail 8000 ?

I think whatever they are releasing will be timed to be around Intel next gen chips, maybe end 2023, early 2024. And of course tied to whatever production capacity they've committed to Z4. Meaning they are not going to release anything with plenty Z4 still around.

What AM5 needed now is not new CPUs but cheaper motherboards. Why can't there be true replacement to B450/B550 boards for the same costs ? This was the case for decades, now with every generation price doubles! If PCI-E 5 is the reason for exponential increase in cost, the fact is, not everyone needs PCI-E 5 support in the first place. For gamer PCI-E 4.0 is more than future proof even the PCI-E 3.0 still not a bottleneck for Gaming loads. There must be option to choose for consumers regarding PCI-E version of choice to suite their requirements and cost. Availability of a B550 like motherboard on AM5 platform for around $100 would result in rapid increase in sales of the new AM5 platform. Now a large number of people find it meaningless to spend stupendous amount of money to build a PC. Buying a Laptop or a Console for gaming makes more and more sense, thanks to a new form of Greed.

Damn, i`m still thinking about a possible AM5 7000 build and we are already talking about new CPUs for it... 😳

I just wanted to note, that 'threadripper' series is due for an update as well.
