Pfff they should make pay per view fight matches where every company should bring their champion to fight each other in cage matches to death ,for the privilege of buying their cpus!

Valken
AMD should do the same with a cherry picked Thread Ripper or Ryzen!

Waiting for AMD tweet to offer exchange 9900xe for threadripper...

I sense 360mm radiar to keep is cool here...
255W?This will eat up 350W in peak.
Thanks Intel for the kettle!:D

*sigh* Gone are the days when people were fine with 255W for kick ass performance... we need more POWAH! 😀

Will 9990XE (14-core) be less 4 cores than 9980XE (18-core)????

nizzen
Overclockers are used to high watt usage, so 250-350w is no problem. Using coustom watercooling for my 7980xe @ 4.7ghz, 9900k @ 5.3 ghz, 1950x @ 4.2ghz all cores. Need for speed> powersave 😀

I guess they need more money, because their current overpriced lineup doesn't make them enough?

I don't understand the point of this. Surely, it shouldn't be that hard to overclock a 9940 to 5GHz (let's face it - if you've got the budget for such a CPU, you've got the budget for a good cooling system and PSU). Aside from the most diehard Intel fans, I don't see why anyone would care about this.
I also found this confusing. Shouldn't it be the 9940XE?

Embra
More of a novelty. It may sell for a lot to an Intel collector.
