I'm holding out for the 28-core 5GHz that Intel announced last June. It was supposed to be out by now and I already got the refrigerator and substation setups...

Dear system integrators, Band together and form a gentleman's agreement to divide these cpu's amongst yourselves and just underbid at the lowest price possible

1$ bids? They should give me a couple of hundreds to switch, not buying a 350$ mainboard for that thing just because they give it away for free 😀 But more realistitcally, they're betting for contingents, as in the manufacturers can produce very elite gaming PCs they sell, or laptops or whatever they want to put another, higher price tag on top. I doubt they bother to sell to little guys.

Yeah saw that too, netflix is upscaling on anime productions as it seems. Might get them more interesting for me tbh!

Will 9990XE (14-core) be less 4 cores than 9980XE (18-core)????
reix2x:

that's the rumor.. higher clocks instead of core count
Bingo, I think that makes this a pointless product. It's not Kaby Lake X type of stupid, but close. The extra 4 cores on the 9980 would still be better for most workstation tasks, and a 5ghz+ overclock on the 9900k (or even 8700k/8086k/7700k) would be better for gaming fps. Intel doesn't make higher numbered products cheaper, so assuming this is more expensive than the 9980xe - what is the reason / use case to buy it?

The best I can do is tree fiddy, and I'll be losing money on that deal. But seriously, suck a fat one Intel. I'll be waiting on the 3700X, if I feel I don't need that (which I probably won't), I'll wait for the 4700X. A 2700 which is what I have, even at the low 4.15GHz mine's at, is plenty for games without being the bottleneck so long as the game uses DX12 to make better use of the threads.
