ohhhh 2017?! I thought candys were for this year.

Me too. Looks like my Zen build will have to wait a while longer :book:

Gives me more time to save up and do a system overhaul.

Cool - HBM2 cards and new CPUs will be available next year. 2017 upgrade, here I come 😀

hum... between new cpu gen and 1080-ti, i might sell my whole rig and start from scratch

Why anyone would wait for Kaby Lake is beyond me. It'll off nothing new in terms of performance over skylake, just a couple new features and official support for 2400Mhz memory. Zen maybe, but I doubt Zen will compete with Skylake or Kaby Lake on the IPC front. Surely anyone on Haswell or older if they want an upgrade might aswell get straight on Skylake or just wait for Canonlake a little later as at least that'll be 10nm, might get something more out of that.

Kabylake supports Optane. People keep forgetting that.

depends on the situations i guess if really need upgrade then probably not worth wait kaby lake like u said cpu performance not increasing much, thus for upgrading, especially to people just want new cpu (not urgent) why need to hurry to rush getting skylake ? why not wait abit longer for new - better cpu ?

If AMD really is pushing it to next year, and this isn't just another baseless rumour, it must mean the yields from the new 14nm process are abysmal. I hope that only applies to Zen and not also to GPUs. AMD is surely finished if they can't get any new GPUs out when Nvidia is apparently already planning to release a 1060 as well, and based on the 1070 & 1080, they have got no problems whatsoever.

Interesting. So Kabylake will be first to support optane? Not that i completely understand what is it though but i heard/read something about it.

Lol Your right, I did forget about that one. Not sure that alone would make me wait. Its mostly for storage solutions right? I think the M.2 PCI3.0 NVMe that I'll buy will see me good for a while 😉 How fast is Optane going to be?

Think thats the biggest problem in forums, people don't really need an upgrade, but want a new toy to play with and they feel the need to justify buying a new toy and get mad when they don't see the performance increase they feel they need to buy it. If I want it I just buy it and don't care about justifying **** lol

Well I guess the current problem with Optane/3D Xpoint is that no one knows what consumer facing form it's going to take. The Optane Solid State drives they showed off are really fast, which is nice, but the tech can actually be used for more then just SSDs. I guess my point is that it has the ability to bring some major changes depending on how Intel finds ways to use it and it's a feature of Kabylake that's often overlooked.

From what I have read it seems to be a storage solution that is so fast you don't need RAM. The CPU will talk directly to the storage without the need to have RAM in the middle. So from that perspective, it's freaking fast. But all we have right now are buzz word filled press releases and nothing to actually look at.

If this rumor is true then AMD can forget about making a comeback... They will have to launch their products before Xmas otherwise people will just go for the Intel CPU. I really think AMD has a good chance this time around, but they will have to play their cards rite. They are already cutting things very tight with Nvidia and their RX 480. But let's all hope this is not true so we can see them shine again.

That is actually an advertisement to wait for Cannonlake after Kaby. The first to support has all the bugs. The second corrects what they didn't find the first time. They still need a better name than "Optane". Sounds like toothpaste made with diesel fuel.

Yeah I agree, the name is really bad lol

As much as I am looking forward to Optane, it's going to be very expensive at first... I was planning to upgrade my rig and was planning to wait for Kaby to release around Q3 2016. But if they change to January, I'd get Skylake instead... The reason I wanted to get Kaby was for the Optane support (but expensive) and mostly the extra 4 lanes from the 200 series.

Damn, I was really hoping AMD would stick with their usual October release date. I wanted to do my next rig by then. That doesn't necessarily mean I'd buy Zen, but I wanted to see benchmarks by October so I knew what to get (but even if Zen is 10% slower than Skylake, that's good enough for me).

You mean supporting Xpoint in memory Dimms?
