Good processor, good performance but value for money goes out the door needing expensive MB, RAM and 100+ USD AIO cooler. It seems for 4K gamers, just get a 12600K, OC it with DDR4 and buy a faster GPU with the savings. AMD Gamers, go buy the 5800X3D. Honestly, that is 12900K performance for half the price.

There's a typo on the title: Should be 7700X instead of 7700K

AMD releasing a new cpu lineup that is slower in gaming than last generation. LOL Looks like I'm good with x570 for years still!

Seems like the 5800x3d could by my new i7 990x cpu? Meaning that it wll be able to push FPS long enough for me to be worth upgrading my 2700x and not looking back?

5800X3D is 12900K performance for half the price. I dunno why you or any gamer would not buy this on existing AM4 platform if you need an upgrade with 3x00 or older Ryzen CPU. It is the best upgrade for AMD gamers now.

12600k performance in gaming, meh. not even close to 5800x3d

At 4K with fast GPU, it is nearly flat across the board. Unless a pro gamer or 144Hz+ gamer, then yeh, faster CPU is required.

Holy crap. Impressive for not being a 3xd chip. Some people here are sniffing glue. $434 right now for a 5800x3d. Not exactly a cheap buy for existing AM4 owners. Yes still cheaper then going AM5. But how long with that 5800x3d be that fast is the question.

These are good CPUs, but not groundbreaking. Probably the X3D versions will be much better.

ppc has 12700k w. ddr4 in their charts, and 7700x loses to that most of the time https://www.purepc.pl/test-procesorow-amd-ryzen-7-7700x-vs-intel-core-i7-12700k-ktory-jest-wydajniejszy-porownanie-w-grach-i-programach?page=0,51 5800x3d absolutely buries this in some scenarios. https://www.purepc.pl/test-procesorow-amd-ryzen-7-7700x-vs-intel-core-i7-12700k-ktory-jest-wydajniejszy-porownanie-w-grach-i-programach?page=0,59

Not for long. Until intel releases their next cpus and amd releases the 7800x3d. The 7800x3d will be expensive though. Not sure i get AMD strategy here. Don't get me wrong those are good cpus but they will be behind intel in gaming for sure. Seeing the difference between the 7950 and the 12900k in rendering i don't think there's any way intel beat them when it comes to rendering. The 7950x should be on top of the rendering world. The 7900x and 7950x both make sense but i think AMD should have found a way to release a 7800x3d and 7600x3d at competitive price. Will definitely skip this and keep my 5800x. I'd be more interested in a 5900x3d that those honestly.

Not that interesting for gaming. I'll be looking for interesting deals on 5600 to 5800X3D CPUs to upgrade my 2600. But I think that upgrading my GTX970 should be done first. And what about the Ryzen 7000 series getting that hot while paired with a cooler that is supposed to be able to cool 200+ watt while the CPU never uses that much power but stil runs hot. They should be working on a mechanism to more efficiently transfer the heat from the CPU to the heatsink.

5800x3d is just $20 more and it smashes it in gaming, without the need for ddr5. 13th gen will have it easy, it looks like 7800x3d will be needed to see substantial performance over r5000 series.

In all other test the 7700x smashes the 5800x3d , so its not that black and white.

Gaming performance is what the vast majority buying these kinda products care about though.
