gddr6 does not seem to improve performance that much or at all in some cases. Its hard to recommend these 1650 cards all three of them.

Thanks for the review Hilbert. It looks like they perform similar to RX470s using little more power than a GTX1050ti. That's decent.
I wouldn't call them junk but I do agree that they're expensive. At $100 US, these would be great gpus.

Well I guess Nvidia has covered every single inch of the 1600 series lineup.

Recommended? For what? Wasting money? I would even rather go for 5500 4GB instead of this sad product. And if you are not going to play any games, which you are not with 1650 of any kind, you might as well just get 1050 instead if you don't already have IGP or APU.
well I doubt very much they are going to optimize it to perform close to 1060 let alone 1070 which you can get for $150, used.

The normal 1650 is already too expensive for what it does and even if this card is meant to replace the old one in its current price we know that wont be the case it will end up being more expensive and even less worth buying than it was before.

At this point I would get at least a 1650 super because there is absolutely no reason to get a normal 1650 if you are on a budget and looking for an Nvidia card.

nVidia will have to get off their high horse and reduce the price/performance ratio of their next gen cards or NOBODY will buy them. Yes I know "you" will, but 99% will not. Times have changed! No more brainless money wasting

There is one application where these cards absolutely shine, because they require no power connectors and only draw up to 75 watts, and can be bought as low profile half height cards, they are perfect for sticking in cheap second hand office PC's.
I have a whole stack of old Lenovo office PC's currently with i3 processors and 4gb's of ram each, I'm slowly refurbishing and upgrading them into small gaming PC's, replacing the i3 processors with i7's adding another 4gb of ram, replacing the HDD with an SSD and putting one of those cards into them turns them into handy low power draw gaming PC's that fit nicely next to your PS4 or Xbox.
Sure looking at just price to performance there are higher power draw products that perform better and cost less, but sometimes that isn't an option you can take and that's when these cards shine.
I mean i don't make a lot of cash off selling them as the cards are pretty expensive and people don't want to pay top dollar for an old office PC with limited upgradability, but i would rather refurb them into useful gaming PC's make a bit of cash, and stop them just ending up in landfill.

I know there is a boost 3.0? think it's 3.0 on these cards, but the boost clock is rated lower, surely that just ruins increasing the memory speed and the performance gain from that, Though most likely not by much but could be an extra 1/2fps in some cases. Even so odd card, only assumption I have is GDDR5 is at the end of its lifespan and they are only making GDDR6 hence the change, But thats just an assumption no facts based on that.

I think many people are failing to see the purpose of these cards.
The GTX 1650s (not this particular Gigabyte model), but in general, are cards to be used without the need for a power connector. And with that requirement, it's the fastest card on the market that people can buy.
There are a lot of people with PCs from OEMs with shitty power supplies. These cards are a way of significantly increase performance, without incurring in further expenses.
Furthermore, GTX 1650s can be passively cooled, which is an advantage for some situations.

For me, the level of performance the 1650 offers isn't the issue about these cards; it's what they cost for that level of performance. (But, I feel pretty certain we all feel that every freakin' card on the market is more than just a bit too pricey.) And, if a system just happens to have an eight-pin PCIe power plug, the RX 570 is still equal or better in performance, and often about $25 ~ $30 USD less expensive.
For laughs, anyone price a new GTX 1050 lately?
