Undying
Cl40 just sucks. Drr5 have a long way beating the fastest ddr4. By the time zen4 releases it will mature and be worthy of an upgrade but not today.

is those aida screens with l1/l2 cache and turned off integrated graphic mean something?

well if for no other reason, DDR5 is unobtainium in most countries so if the motherboard you want has a DDR4 version I'd say go DDR4 for sure
sadly not my case and my model is "funnily" the only one not available unlike all the other ones ah ah ah 😡
not like my DDR5 is here anyway as it's delivery has been pushed back twice already, DDR5 situation is so bad here they just disabled the order button you can't order it anymore, any kit of any brand, the shops that allow customers to still do it are basically scammers they have no delivery date and already hundreds of unfulfilled back orders
anyway thanks for the comparison I at least know if my kit arrives it wont completely suck for games

Cool story....
Now try again with 6400cl40...

So, no point in buying DDR5 RAM right now?

Cool story, try 6400 c28 😀

😱 Wanna adopt me? 😀
How much voltage did you pushed into Hynix RAM @ 6400 and those low CL timings? 1.3V, 1.35V...more?

DDR5 is here with same performance as top DDR4 at a premium price. Obviously new tech needs to mature and when it does, it will be worthwhile.
Meanwhile I'll stick with my current rig until DDR5 makes a name for itself.

This makes Alder Lake and expensive platform to adopt now, but if you expect to do it in advance then no regrets.

Was pulling my hair out trying to figure out my high latency numbers until I saw your cpu-z screens. NB at 950MHz vs. 1800+ make a huge difference like 30ns in sandra. Had to force 1:1 in bios

fellix
Latency sensitive code will prefer DDR4 for now, but the higher bandwidth potential and improved memory parallelism will work for DDR5, after more mature IMCs and DIMM kits are developed further.

I think it's mainly DDR4 Samsung Bdies versus DDR5 because of the lower latency.
I think this ram will hold on longer than none Samsung Bdie ram. I have some Team Group DDR4 which do 3800mhz @ 16-16-16-38 T1 out of the box. They can be overclocked easily over 4000mhz while keeping low timings.
DDR5 doesn't have that magic dust that Samsung produced with those BDies, i don't know if they just got lucky with them or not. Aswell these DDR4 in a 32gb kit 2x16 were really cheap compared to DDR5 prices.
