the re-mastered version still looks 3 years old to me. Personally, If I want to play a classic over again, I would prefer playing it in its original form. But thats just me, I crazy!

Well it's a HD version of the Camecube "remaster" which is probably a decade old about now. I'll pick this up at some point on the cheap, but I'm in no rush after getting the original trilogy on my PS3 for under £10 a few months back.

I guess the developers of the Gamecube version should take that as a compliment, considering how old it is and how it pretty much looks the same.

Bought this on the xbox one since I had $19 in credit. What I still really want is RE2 HD.

So does literally every Resi fan out there. But that is great that you brought a copy, it doesn't matter what system you brought it on as long as you buy it! I strongly believe this is CAPCOM testing the waters out and to see if these games will sell again. If this one sells well, we could very well get Resi 0 HD Remaster and Resident Evil 2 & 3 HD Remaster. I think the best thing to do would be to do 2 & 3 as one game, as Resi 3 happens before the events and during the events of Resi 2. So combining the 2 games into one could work very well.

The big sell are the new controls. Though the may take some of the horror out of the game (figurative and literal).

Just started playing it again on my Gamecube so no need to buy this until my GC blows up...

You can. You are able to dynamically change between the original graphics and the new. This is shaping up to be an awesome port. RE2 was briefly on Steam (just a place holder) and is now gone, I had it in my wishlist. I hope this means RE2 is coming soon because that was my absolute favorite RE game. They have no remake to port though so it would be all new graphics. RE3 was great but short considering it came after RE2 which was not only twice as long but could be played again with Leon and Claire reversed for a different series of events. It is an exciting time to be an RE fan.

Those of you who never played the original RE, don't bother with any other version other than this or the versions of GC and Wii. If I hadn't done a play-through a year or so ago, I'd probably get this even at $20. For those new to the game, it will be worth $20.

I read that they added some new endings and changed some of the puzzles? That's good for me because I only played this game like twice on the PS1. I hope they do the same for RE2 if they remake that one because I can probably play that one with my eyes closed.

Thanks man, ended up getting from G2Play for US$13.99 and used 0.75 cents of store credit. Also.. Skip to 1:01mins as the girl doing the video somehow manages to say so much of nothing for whole minute. Complaining of the controls more than anything. I like this user quote:'
Uncle_Leo 11 hours ago Let me first say that I've already played through this on PS3 as it was released in physical, region-free form in Japan at the end of November. The thing which struck me most was the shoehorning-in of the new control scheme, where the direction you push corresponds directly to the direction Jill or Chris move on screen. And, as mentioned in the video, once the camera viewpoint changes, any slight change of input direction can result in the character turning back in completely the opposite direction, depending on the camera angle of the next screen. The original "tank" controls were always perfect for Resident Evil. I remember playing the PSX original back in 1996 and having absolutely no issue with them. The only time anyone ever started even complaining about the original controls were many years later when the question of "is this good enough for gaming today?" came up. To me, it was obvious a change in control scheme would produce such a problem as described above. Similar controls were employed in the first Devil May Cry game on PS2, and the problem was evident there. It was glossed over at the time as reviewing standards started to slip, and as the PlayStation era had brought many new folk into gaming who were more impressed by a character with the catchphrase, "Let's rock, baby!" than a well-designed control scheme. To me it just highlights the danger of the internet age, where people are given a much louder say than many of them deserve, leading to developers being pressured to compromise their games in ways such as this. Everyone gets an equal voice, but not everyone actually deserves one in regard to every subject. Do me a favour, buy this game when it comes out, immediately switch the controls to classic "tank" style, and then think twice every time you moan about a game on Twitter, Youtube or Facebook. Do you really know what you're talking about? Cheers.
