At least with this we will learn which technologies won't be used in the future as nobody wants to have anything to do with Rambus - apart from Microsoft it seems. But Microsoft better watch its back: Rambus is known to stab its allies. There are few companies as obnoxiously trying to hamper PC development as Rambus.

Can't believe rambus still exists. Well, best of luck to them, maybe they'll also partner with AMD for something new and exciting. (right)

Hilbert hit the nail on the head with the first line. Rambus teamed up with Microsoft are just as likely to hold back progress (with lawsuits) as they are to make progress. It sounds good that MS are teaming up with a smaller company to hopefully get some results, but deep down everyone knows this is going to cause as much harm as good.

Any time you hear "quantum computing" just let it go in one ear and out of the other. All that *ever* is is a buzzword designed for the sensitive ears of investors with more money than brains. Neither Rambus nor Microsoft could even tell you what "quantum computing" is...because absolutely no one has even the crispy outline of an idea. It's *all* just PR nonsense. These companies are trying to justify sending millions of dollars down the quantum rat hole--so every once in awhile they'll drag the word out and dust it off to see if it will attract a few idiot investors. To date, nobody--but nobody--has designed a "quantum computer" (oxymoron) that does anything at all with even a tiny fraction of 1% reliability. They might as well be making voodoo dolls and selling them, or flipping coins, literally...;)
