ha awesome, i have a feeling vega 10 will fight the 1080ti, will probably knock the sh!t out of the 1080, but we shall see. Anyway can't wait, i really want to go back to full AMD system: Zen + Vega10 😛c1:

Since HMB2 memory seems to suffer from low availability would it not make more sense to release a GDDR5x card first?

call him quickly and remind him... he probably just forgot about this strategy! btw. i wanted to buy a six-pack of HBM2 memory lately too, but my local tech store said "nuh-uh!" they dont have it available. guess the rumors are right.

Vega 11 is the fast Vega, 10 is lower end one. The numbers are switched compared to Polaris.

Let's hope that from October "AMD" will catch up with "Nvidia" in it's high-end GPU segment , right now there is no competition because "AMD" is late with it's "Vega 10" to compete against GTX 1080 and GTX 1070.

Pretty sure AMD is skipping GDDR5x. I remember reading that there were conflict with incorporating it into there new design. HMB2 will be worth the wait.

Isnt the GDDR5x also suffering from low availability? 1080 was paper launch for many. You still have to wait quite a bit after you order one. HBM2 looks promissing.

the question is, how do people know that there is a low availability of an integrated circuit module. do they base this on the rumor from about one year ago?( e t e k n i x . com/hbm-memory-production-affecting-availability-amd-fury-series-gpus/ ) sometimes it appears to me as if people have their spycams directly in the manufacturing plants in taiwan and china and can literally count how many modules are being produced at the moment. or in the last weeks...

IMHO Amd is going in the right direction marketing wise, Polaris is being hyped, now they are already starting with Vega. however they should also make commercials to show on websites or tv to reach non geeks :P

yeah thats true, the way i see it non-geeks are certainly a target group for rx480 at least. unfortunately we dont know the price range for vega... tv is expensive... but just look what activision achieved through marketing with the last four sequels of call of duty... they reached the masses... and sold pretty poor (lately at least) games in very high numbers. when bfbc2 and bf3, bf4 was sold mainly to non-mainstream gamers who just knew that it was the franchise with the broader spectrum. (DICE improved there marketing subsequently though... it started with bf3 but in bf1 it is on a perfect level that represents the amount of advertising that the franchise deserves, judging from the last 3 titles) so you should always not underestimate marketing, regardless how good or bad your product is. but when it is a good product and you are sure about it then a non-existent marketing can cost you many sales! so i hope 480 is a good product as we all experience the last days... and i hope it will go a little viral as well.

Will be interesting to see just how many people will buy that 480. Steam stats will be a good indicator

Raja Koduri today creates a bit of hype, likely trying to go viral. He posted a photo which states, Vega 10 Celebration. As you guys know, the Polaris 10 and 11 products that will be empowering the Ra... Raja Koduri Creates a bit of Hype
He has a "GOOD" bait.... There's a shiny lure....from this guy but not now...may be ...later....

How on earth we keep looking at the production of HBM while in reality these high end cards only cater to a tiny minority. They are struggling to produce HBM for a card that will only have a 2% market share. If AMD wanted to bring HBM to all their cards i could understand but they only want it for a tiny amount of enthusiasts which is confusing. I bet this is just a BS excuse. AMD is behind not because of HBM but because Nvidia is just miles ahead in R&D.

Before GPU upgrade, I want to upgrade CPU first. And for that Zen has to be upgrade. I think it is not that hard to deliver overwhelming upgrade in performance with 8C/16T Zen. But question still remains: "Will It Blend?"

..."Will It Blend?"
Now that's marketing.

As stated before, where exactly is the proof that there are production issues with HBM?
If AMD wanted to bring HBM to all their cards i could understand but they only want it for a tiny amount of enthusiasts which is confusing. I bet this is just a BS excuse.
And how exactly do lower-end cards benefit from HBM? Their cores aren't powerful enough to saturate something like GDDR5.
AMD is behind not because of HBM but because Nvidia is just miles ahead in R&D.
Exactly which features from Nvidia's R&D are miles ahead that aren't platform-specific? Not everybody cares about CUDA, PhysX, G-Sync, and so on. In terms of features everybody actually cares about, AMD (and Intel, for that matter) supports the vast majority of them.

Have a feeling Vega will be a winner this time around (esp comparing to Fiji). Mainly due to the fact that the launch date has been brought forward by several months.

Dear Raja, I want a new Rasterizer for xmas.

:3eyes: There is nothing confusing about it, HBM1 has a limit of 4GB which is not enough for the high-end gamers, so this is why HMB2 is coming and it is not ready for full production. AMD btw made sure that this new technology came to use, and they were the first to use many other memory standards as well. Without AMDs initiative it is unlikely that have anything better than GDDR5x. Putting HBM memory on a core like 480 would be a waste, because it's not fast enough to take advantage of superfast memory, this is why it will come later with the faster cards. Nvidia currently has the fastest GPU, but they are too expensive for most people and they can't even produce enough of them. VR is a craze now, just like 4k, we're gonna need these faster memory chis, also, great that they are more energy efficient and allows for smaller boards to be made.

YES! The AMD coming back.... Vega 10 14nm with 8Gb HBM2 will smash the GTX 10xx! Because it will be more powerful? Yes, could be, but will smash because it will cost too much less then GTX 10xx series, and now they are too expensive. I think AMD will, until the end of this year, win a expressive market share to fight face a face with Nvidia. I HOPE SO! I BELIEVE!: 🤓
