Looking forwards to AMD releasing this generation of cards , i'm wanting to go back to a single GPU setup that will power my 1440p monitor , but i'm not liking the price of the 1080 at all, so maybe a move to AMD for me , im just hoping that this new gen of cards from AMD are on par with the 1080 at what i would call a reasonable price...

Exactly, 1080 is midrange card with price of highend. I dont have problem pay even 1k for best possible card, but 700(800+) for 1080 reference card is highly exaggerated. Last year I moved from AMD to nvidia 980ti just only for reason it had HDMI 2.0 so I could run 4k@60Hz (no DP). This year I am planning to replace my 6 years old i7 rig and get 8 core Zen, 32GB DDR4 and Vega11 (what ever top model will be called).

AMD could possibly have priority over HBM2 compared to Nvidia.
They are using two different vendors. Nvidia is using Samsung, AMD is using SK Hynix.

I see a lot of talk about prices here which in the majority is implying(I do agree to an extend) that GTX 1080 is overpriced(it is kinda) and the soon to be release RX 480 underpriced or reasonably at least. Not bashing any side here but do really people think if Vega was released tomorrow offering 20-30% more performance than GTX 1080, AMD would price it less than NVidia's top offering at the moment?

Vega 10 the Bigger & Vega 11 the Smaller not otherwise. Just like the Polaris 10 and 11 were Polaris 10 the bigger chip similar is the case with Vega 10 and 11 were Vega 10 is the bigger chip that holds 6144 stream processors that is designed to compete with Nvidia GP100. Vega 11 on the other hand is the smaller Vega that competes with GTX1080 which is rumored to launch on this October. According to vrworld: "....Vega 10 will be the most advanced silicon AMD has ever produced. Featuring 14nm FinFET design by GlobalFoundries or Samsung, with SK.Hynix HBM2 memory modules on multi-chip-module, i.e. MCM (TSMC calls this CoWoS), Vega 10 is looking to offer equal or higher performance than the high-end GP100." http://vrworld.com/2016/06/24/amd-celebrates-vega-10-rollout/

You should expect the chip to land in between GP104 and GP100.
Don't the last sentence and the one before kind of contradict each other? Like, being equal or faster than GP100, and then putting it between GP100 and GP104 (slower)? I hope AMD to deliver big, was thinking about a second rig in a couple of years that I'd enjoy building up on a Radeon GPU again.

Maybe Raja should stop hyping up AMD's products. The last products were good but ultimately disappointing due to hype. I just don't get this about AMD.

Many people believe AMD to be a charity for some reason. Of course they wouldn't price it better, look at Fury X. Same price as the 980 Ti yet not up there in performance (custom). Yeah it has watercooling, but it serves limited purpose when that card refuses to overclock properly. Bit of a disaster really. Vega 11 will likely be priced the same as the future Ti/Titan.

IMHO Amd is going in the right direction marketing wise, Polaris is being hyped, now they are already starting with Vega. however they should also make commercials to show on websites or tv to reach non geeks :P
Yeah, with otherwise naked women prancing around with the cards hiding their private parts something. "Buy the new AMD cards now, so she won't be able to hide them anymore!". 😉

I heard you might need a special unlock key from AMD for that feature. 😀 /bad joke

This Big Vega or 1080Ti might be my next upgrade , it all depends if one of them single catds can do 4K 60fps. Let's hope !

Already started saving money for one of them cards. Which one time/reviews will tell. But if GTX 1080 scores at 4K is any indication which gets usually over 45-60+FPS, I would estimate the next higher tier cards will manage 4K@60FPS on most of taxing titles. Not that I care for 4K much really honestly. I prefer DSR@1440-1620p with ENB or SweetFX and all extra eye candy enable.
