The bundles are too expensive. The cards have no future if they don't sell for MSRP, as the alternatives are far more enticing at Vega's increased price point.
Also, I'm a bit perplexed by the notion of 'two free games', when those two 'free games' add a price premium of 50 bucks each.
Even if anyone wanted those titles to begin with, chances are they could be picked up cheaper elsewhere, making the bundle even worse.
Finally, I'm not too concerned as of yet since we're talking reference. No one should buy a reference card to begin with - well, more often than not anyway.
It'll be up to the AIBs. If AIBs will use the original MSRP as baseline (mining inflation disregarded) the issue is of temporary nature and perhaps a non issue. Should AIBs however us the bundle price as MSRP to build upon, well, then Vega is DOA across the board.

Winter is coming, people need a heater in their home.

over here in the UK I would not want to pay more than £400. If gaming I would go for the 1070 or the 1080 but even that 1080 is over priced for what it offers. Miners may pay the top end prices for Vega.

Scan.co.UK had the same model listed twice with the cheaper marked as introductory offer or similar, that version is now no longer listed and it was 100 cheaper 🙁

Miners only probably, no use buying this for gaming when the green team clearly has the winning cards.

Well just as was expected...Not enough cards available and expensive as f**k. :-(

I have a feeling stores in Finland never received a single Vega card from the first patch to begin with. So, the starting price point would be that 100+ for us, with some usual premium added to it as Finland is one of the most expensive countries in the world. It's a sad fact AMD has pretty much abandoned Finland as a market, so nothing surprises me.
I pity people with freesync screens who were waiting for these, should this pricing stick. Still, I can't say I'd be hugely surprised as I did wonder just how small a profit margin AMD has, considering the expensive HBM2 and all. Not worth it for the customers, though, since two stacks of HBM2 offers hardly any more bandwidth than Nvidia's cheaper solutions.

I don't really understand how a card like that can be out of stock that fast... I read that, even for miners, it was not that great.
BTW, i've got mine for 507€ including tax, and the promo code is still available as i'm writing (promo at LDLC, french retailler, with promo code VEGA)

I think the correct terms are bait and switch, as well as false advertising.
The fact that with Vega AMD driver team has delivered a barely working product, yet they found the time to improve GPU mining, while the company is publicly shunning away from it
("we are powerless to stop miners from depleting our supplies", "mining is not catalyst for us"),
and instead singing praises to Gaming... Now this bait and switch...
All this coupled with the Enhanced Sync douche bagging in which AMD artificially limits it to Polaris and Vega, and then does some stewpid poll "Which feature would you like enabled next?" seals it for me.
Keep in mind all this is coming from the company who portrays itself as the People's Company, Open Standards, Red Revolution and whatnot. Bunch of hooey is what it is.
I dunno if you are joking, but during my mining phase I have indeed used my 290 as a space heater during winter.
My room is 5m x 6m x 2.7m and 290 lights it up in a matter of minutes.
Latest Wattman allowed me to use -100mV, and with AC4 keeping the card bellow 65°C, max sustained power consumption is now easily bellow 200W.
Now the walls and windows of my room are managing to conduct the heat away, there is no heat buildup, and the card is a whole another beast. It's dead silent inside my Fractal R5 case, and finally fully enjoyable.
That's why 300W+ card with the performance of 180W card is a no go for me

Well until these prices go back down Nvidia is winning. To be fair with all that power consumption and waiting for driver updates imma stick with Nvidia anyway

Giving away promo codes without availability is pointless. They cater to nobody with such a move, sadly.
