I don't really understand how a card like that can be out of stock that fast... I read that, even for miners, it was not that great. BTW, i've got mine for 507€ including tax, and the promo code is still available as i'm writing (promo at LDLC, french retailler, with promo code VEGA)
Thanx for that tip! One Vega 64 coming my way

Yup. Got mine there too yesterday. Not in stock, but you can't sneeze at 507€.

Scan.co.UK had the same model listed twice with the cheaper marked as introductory offer or similar, that version is now no longer listed and it was 100 cheaper 🙁
I saw this too... I think it was an error on their part... was the normal price till they thought hey we can make more money from miners and alike... because of how important pricing is, it makes these cards actually worse price/proformance than their nvidia counterparts

Easy enough, really. Just wait for cards to come in stock. It's the aftermarket ones we want anyway - not the reference designs unless there's some major savings to be had.

If i remember correctly AMD admitted that the number of standalone cards would be small in order to prevent miners from buying all the cards meaning that the majority of Vega cards would only be available on bundle... The idea was to have plenty of cards available for gamers but apparently it backfired...

Over at the AMD subreddit, theres a news post describing a new "mining only" beta driver that gets ETH hash rates to between 36~41 MH/s on a Vega 56. Also, Vega has got to be the most botched hardware launch Ive ever witnessed. All this teasing and hoopla leading up to launch and then two days and theres none available at MSRP? Vega has inferior perf/watt than the competition-- its ONLY *possible* advantages are freesync and price. Take out price and you are not left with much What sensible person would pay more for less?

Do you seriously believe that? :3eyes: Investors look for short or medium term (at best) benefits, AMD CEO herself declared miners will improve ( A LOT) their Q3 sells so this is not a "surprise" for them. The delay in launch didn't help at all to have a MASSIVE first batch ready for stores.First batch run out almost everywhere in minutes. The Vega gaming GPU launch price/first batch low price was a marketing scam for gamers and a way to profit from miner crazyness, plain and simple. You can believe online shops want a fair cut of the "300$ benefit compared to competition" whole system including adaptive sync monitor Vega announced and get 100$ for them.:D

I have to say, I'm surprised that Vega is selling so well, especially considering that 64 is by far the less attractive option (I can only imagine how the 56 will do). Either the stock was extremely limited or there are customers out there who see enormous value in these cards. Perhaps miners were so desperate for AMD cards that they instinctively bought up everything?

I can't find any Vegas here. All sold out or not enough stock but we have a hardcore crypto community so .... I suspect all the Vegas here are on its way to Iceland on that private 747...

Its easier to find a waterblock for the ref design than for custom designs. 😉

is anyone going to mention the fact that the guy from OCUK who started the 100mh eth via magic driver update/please-preorder-from-me rumor...also started this "AMD raising MSRP" rumor? its pretty clear hes manipulating people to drive his company sales. im not saying low availability is okay...unless stores restock quickly, this will be like the 480 launch, with everybody having to swoop in when they get nowinstock notifications. major pain in the ass. but i am saying that everybody should have been bracing for low inventory or price gouging from retailers...so lets not act shocked all at once, if you please? HBM2 from samsung is scarce. retailers might be perfectly content to screw us. the end.

Just read it on some other site that $499 was the launch offer only and after it is over the price will be $599 for vega 64. Apparently confirmed by amd too. Will post a link to it in a sec. If true this is very bad news for vega.... K, will quote some "Now the good and bad news, the good news is AMD are rebating early launch sales to allow us to hit £449.99 on the stand alone [RX Vega 64] black card which has no games. This is a launch only price which AMD at present are saying will be withdrawn in the near future, when if it happens is unknown, but remember*do not be shocked if the price jumps nearly £100 in a few days. This time round there is no early adopter tax, quite the opposite on the stand alone black card, so do be quick. "We’ve also made some bundles as well, these bundles feature NO DISCOUNT, what you get is two AAA titles known as Prey and yet to be released Wolfenstein II PC games, worth a solid £50 between them. Well I lie, they include the Black Card which has £100 discount up front, so by buying the bundles you get the black card at the launch discounted price, but also score the two free games. This is also same case for the Samsung & VEGA monitor bundle, it includes the black pre*********ed card, but also scores you the two free games." –Overclockers UK’s Gibbo "I have to say that I wasn’t expecting this type of anti-consumer behavior from AMD.* The reason that they are apparently giving is to scare off miners by forcing people to buy ‘Radeon Packs’ but this is something that can be easily solved by limiting standalone GPUs to 1 pc per customer and is basically nothing more than a glorified excuse. It is an especially low blow because*AMD stated that the entire point of the Vega delay was to accumulate stock*for launch and yet we saw that their entire inventory evaporated within minutes of launch, making it one of the worst stocked GPU launches in history.* Consumers will now pretty much be forced to by Radeon Packs at gunpoint. One thing is for sure however, every reviewer needs to update their conclusions based on the new MSRPs." Some ppl are saying it's done so that ocuk could do more sales. But tge price rise tendency is everywhere. Newegg included who usually follow msrp

Can't open the link at work due to blacklisting "games"... but if so it's actually a slap to the face of many customers.

The source of all these news is the same:OCUK Gibbo's post.

Yeah, I would treat such a rumor with a large grain of salt. One guy claiming something doesn't amount to much, and AMD UK said they know nothing about a rebate.

What's all this about? I just checked our expensive shops. Vega 64 with liquid cooling costs same as GTX 1080 on air. Vega 64 on air costs quite less.
