You can definetelly see a difference between high and ultra textures on tomb raider games. Even the 1080p displays it well. Its also using 6.3gb vram on my card.

Also thinking about replacing my dying gtx 970 but i think ill hold out for the rx 5600 depending on the actual price of the rx 5500.
Hoping rx 5600 will be a nice upgrade, but mabey its overkill for my freesync 1080p 75hz monitoro_O.

Note: those screenshots are differences in presets, not just textures. So the "high" setting can still be overall worse than "very high", but the discussion at hand here is only about texture detail. Even then, some of the other lowered detail settings barely make a difference.
That's not even the newest TR game, so, I'm giving you an advantage here.
Really now? You can sincerely see a noticeable difference in texture detail between these screenshots:

Wow these are excellent cards for the price at 1080p. Sure there were a few outliers indicating that the drivers need more refinement but overall good cards.
Furthermore, I would suspect in some cases that IQ for some would be tweaked a bit to get optimal gaming experience. I can only assume drivers will mature as time goes on to boot.

It appears that the 5500 series are a true 1080p card. If there is a 5600 I would wonder what segment they would fit as it would be between 1080 and 1440p landing in no mans land. To fast for 1080 but not enough for 1440p. IMO a mixed bag when you factor in the price. I'm sure it would be at least $100 more then the 5500.

The RX 5500 is basically a RX 580 level performance card, with less VRAM, at the price we could already buy the RX 580.
The RX 5500XT enters on RX 590 territory, but again at prices that we already have on the RX 590.
The only good thing in this cards is the power consumption, because the price/performance is terrible, considering it is a new generation.
This GPU market is really upside down! No wonder so many people are jumping to gaming consoles.

Thanks,Mr Hilbert for these tests.
Unfortunatelly,RX 5500 (XT) is on par with RX580/590 and better than 1650.
Lets see how will be RX 5600.

The day has come when AMD's inferior products are more expensive from what competition has to offer... I guess that "special hardware" rdna needs for sharpening is very expensive!
People who think that consoles will help amd, think again, what hardware are consoles using even now?! Sorry, but buying on assumptions that 1 card will perform better then the other in 5 years (when you will most likely start to look for an upgrade) is ridiculous and it was not true so far unless you run out of VRAM.
Considering I do not really need more than 270x and cheapest 1650S in my country is 200EUR, I will rather get used 570/580 at less then half the price with 1y warranty left.
