A pure WIN for AMD. Besides those negatives points for "now", I will hold my final judgement when aftermarket/custom versions are released... And its a 500euro card!! 500!!! Oh gawd! But for now... WHAT A CARD!! Well done. P.S: 2 tabs split screened, one with 780 Super Jetstream and the other with 290X, actually the 780 SJ is AS fast and faster in almost all games. I know its not entirely fair, but they both were "stock" vs "stock". 😉

Looking good! When the Twin Frozr/Windforce/Dual X cards come out it will be a sure big seller. Titan performance for half the price? Sounds like a done deal. Early prices for us UK people looks to be £430 - £500 depending on version.

I always liked AMD products for their price/performance ratio, since the launch of the 3800/4800 cards the pricing of their products were almost always spot on. My only problem with this card is it`s power consumption. 285w... I mean... ouch. Of course it`s not to far from the Titan`s 250w, but my oppinion is that these companies should focus a little more on performance/watt. High end graphics cards are getting hungrier and hungrier by the day. If they keep things like this it will be not long before we see single gpu graphics cards consuming 350-400 watts. Take the 5800 series cards for example, the 5870 consumed a little less then the 4890 yet still performed much better, it was an amazing product. Of course much of this was thanks to the 40nm tehnology, but still, i think they should stick to the 200 watt range. But this is just my oppinion, maybe I`m just a tree huger 🙂)

Wow nice job AMD. Temp are abit too high for my taste, but nonetheless the price and performance are . @Hilbert: Great review once again!. The only thing im missing from your reviews is the MIN fps when benchmarking, is there a reason you're leaving it out?

Maybe I add to that missing thing the temps AND power consumption in the OC section of the reviews? I would love to see how hotter it got and how much more current it takes when overclocked. P.S: I'm sure Hilbert was like: "Honey, we can turn the heaters off now. I'm gonna start the 2x 290X testing!" 😀

I agree, but beastly card + WC Block/Custom cooler = 50-75c. 😀

yeah, though perhaps 60 -70c with good cooling. 90c on a vanilla is still way high, it's gotta be that the card is a freaking monster under the hood, gotta be.

Thx for the great review Hilbert. Cards are awesome for that price.

While I won't be in the market for a new setup until spring at the least, it's really good to see AMD finally lighting a proper fire under nividia's bum. I might just consider this when I do my next upgrade.

Woah im impressed with a price! £450 on ocuk! Hoping 290 will be about £350 now and i will get it! Temperatures a quite scary tho!

It's pretty much sold out over at OCUK. Chances are the 290 will be available for as little as £350, and after market designs should solve the heat problem. Fingers crossed for a Sapphire Toxic 290 at a good price!

Well i will be aiming to upgrade for xmas so i have some time to save up few pennies and wait for after market coolers! Man im so impressed with those prices!

custom water should have these cards at 50c max loaded use to watercool 470's which use do similar levels of heat, had them under water it was good 40c cooler than reference cooler

Decent performance, realistic price...now for some AIB coolers that can actually handle the TDP. Just keeping it from throttling at 94*C should cause a massive performance increase. Dipping to 600MHz...REALLY?:3eyes:
well one way to reduce heat is to reduce speed, really want it to melt/die?

Just their drivers put me off, have they gotten better since 2011?
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/52/52796.jpg
AMD have made huge driver improvements over the past couple of years, and especially in the last 12 months. I've honestly been impressed with them in that department more than any other. Recent announcements indicate they intend to improve them further in areas such as OpenGL. I'd really not let something like drivers put you off.
