Massive gap in cores between 4090 and 4080... just right to fit in at least one more SKU like 4080Ti when time is right.
I don't know how many CUDA cores are in each functional block on die, but it has to be way more than one functional block being non-functional or disabled from the original 4090 die to get to the cut down 4080 die. It must be three or four disabled.
So that means they one hundred percent have some 4090 dies with only one or two non-functional blocks (like they did between 3090 and 3080Ti) but these would be very close to 4090 performance so not enough distinction again - so NVidia wants to create a much larger "gap" between SKUs this time.
But I guarantee they are not throwing the other (one or two non-functional blocks) dies in trash... so they will come later.

I'm just thinking.
What if "Project Beyond" is a new form of Nvidia Digital Coin? Or maybe Nvidia NFT?

What is this nVidia Geforce 40 hour countdown about on youtube?

Look at the sticky on the bottom of the monitor it says Ti or Tie which may mean nothing i don't know. Plus the folder open on the desktop says "The Future" but i have no idea about when that is, beyond 2024 3nm maybe?

NVidia should put this on repeat during their countdown. 😛

the 16g 4080 is a 4070, and the 12g is a 4060
They are really asking $900 for what should be a $300 card in a sane world.

Well reality sucks I know. So, if you figure in inflation from 2014 to present day, this is U.S. inflation, you are looking at $300 from 2014 being worth $375 today. Throw in wage increases, operating fees, parts scarcity, tax, tariffs etc. and the cheap gpu becomes nonexistent. The days of having your cake and eating it too are gone. Do I like it, no. Do I understand it yes. Gaming is an enthusiast hobby that costs good money to stay, pardon the pun, in the game. At least the performance does increase with the price, and you can rationalize spending the money by chanting that every time you think of the cost.
