Grab your tissues, there's going to be a whole lot of crying.

I think 4070 16gb version will be the same msrp as 4070 ti And 4060 ti 16gb version will be the same msrp as 4070 If they release 4070 ti 16gb it should be almost the same msrp as 4080

The gaming performance will dictate the price, not the specs. If the 4080 is faster than a 4070Ti with 16gb of VRam, it will be priced higher. Pricing strategies are tiered, in all things, everything is geared to steering the punter to the top end card which will be the most profitable for the company.

It is kinda a middle finger to people who bought 4070 already.

We used to get a refresh though, 280gtx to 285gtx springs to mind.

No, we bought what we wanted. It's that simple and goes for any product.

@Hilbert Hagedoorn this part needs to be rewriten i think.
The AD103 silicon is larger than the AD104 die found in the existing GeForce RTX 4070. Consequently, a new version of the card created with AD103 silicon would have just over half of the Streaming Multiprocessors (SMs) disabled. However, it could support 16GB of memory, doubling the capacity of the current model.
12GB to 16GB is not doubling ^^

Yeah refreshes are not a new thing from both sides , 4870 to 4890. 7970 to 7970ghz 2060 2060s ...and the 70s and 80s 3080 10gb and 12gb ...580 to 590 ... 6x00x to 6x50x .... No particular order and dates just what came on my head first from both camps :P

My 280gtx died, sent it back and they gave me a 285gtx, result.

Nowadays there`s no perfect choices regarding buying a GPU, so we just have to buy something we like and don`t think too much about it.

Its the same for many non essential items, do we buy the 2023 TV, wait until 2024 for maybe an extra feature of even get the 2022 model at a discount. Its one of the reasons the bickering on here is pointless, if somebody chooses a particular card, and they are aware of the cost, its performance and other considerations like warranty, why criticise their choice, maybe opposing brand fanboyism or jealousy.

How? Buy or never buy because the next big thing is always just around the corner.

So you buy expensive Bugatti with 12 valve motor, next month Bugatti releases cheap Bugatti with 16 valves and you are ok with that? Well, than you are a i****t 😀 Bugatti would NEVER do that to their customers. nFckia - any day.

Yes, if that's how the car industry works, which it does, new revisions of cars come out all the time. There might be changes you are not aware of but they are there. It is the way, anybody not aware of this is naive.

Exactly, no point in thinking about what comes next because there`s always something cheaper or better on the horizon, it`s just the way it goes with PC hardware. And 15/20 years it was much worse, because some progrrams and games required dedicated harwdware that only the most recent parts had, imagine buying a DX8 capable GPU only to see a DX9 being released a few months after. Even worse, imagine that a great game could only be played with a DX9 card, making all the others pretty much obsolete... Now it`s much better than before.

GPU makers are boy scouts compared to car makers in that regard. Car makers are always releasing special versions that are barely better than the ones before...

Yep. I made a conscious decision to buy my 12GB 4070 because it's a 50% performance upgrade over my old 2080 and 50% VRAM upgrade. It is inaudible and runs cold. I can play games with this 4070 drawing 130w and never going over 60C. It's a great card. The best value for money in the current Nvidia line up. For me, personally, I am going to keep this GPU for a year or two, max. It's a stop gap. I'll run out of sheer grunt before I ever run out of VRAM anyway.

Same for me, i came from a 1070, so my 4070 Ti is a HUGE upgrade no matter what people say.

Correct. Isn't it like double fps compared to the 1070? Most likely more that that, CBA to look up the chards. Yet you'll have people telling you you should have bought something else. Fair. I know AMD GPUs have more VRAM, they also can't play CB 2077 at 100fps at 1440p for the same money. You could always have waited longer and gotten a "better" deal but lets face it, you could always do that. As long as you're happy with your upgrade, that's it. Fuck the haters, buy whatever suits you at that time.
