I think the price difference between 7950X 7900X is dumb, who wouldn't spend an extea $100 and just get the 7950X over the 7900X!
Same can be said of the 7700X and 7600X

If you're saying that you might as well go all-out if you're already going to spend the better part of a grand for just a CPU, I agree. But per-core, it's just a $6.25 difference per-core when going from the 7900X to 7950X. A ~5% savings isn't all that significant. Since having more cores doesn't necessarily mean more performance, might as well save $100 and have a cooler/quieter PC on the 7900X.
The 7600X would really only appeal to those on a budget, and as such, $100 is the difference to not bothering to upgrade. Seems to me the 7600X and 7700X are really meant to be competitive with the 5000 series and Intel.

no need to call B.S. as this is most likely true.
also, we are gadget fiends. a lot of people build to spec or have to massage the system price to include GPU's

imho, this is one of the major benefits of going to a chiplet based uArch as you get economies of scale a quantum level higher than than a monolithic design.
the cost is lower and the yield is higher (and they're not pioneering this node)
at this point the i/o slash control chiplets are more expensive than the compute chiplets.

if these values are real then we can assume that the 7950x is better, and the rest of the processors will fall behind Intel?

we can always assume the top model is "better". however, we can also assume the other AMD models will vastly outperform Intel on efficiency and multi-threaded performance.
this generation may reclaim the single thread crown as well as Intel's RL is a placeholder for ML (which is the true AMD contender as it will not be monolithic).
Raptor Lake is in almost every way better than Alder Lake (same problem with DIMM's) but there can be no real comparison with AMD until RL is out in the real world
price-wise AMD is in the driver's seat with a lower cost of production, higher yield, and finally full access to all sales channels (outside of Russia lol)

No its not. In the UK 5950X was £750 at launch whereas the 5900X was about £529.99 that's a much larger price difference.
5700X didn't exist as an option at launch it came about 6 months later.
The price difference between 5800X and 5900X was £100, guess which I bought. 50% more cores over the 5800X and only 25% more expensive, was an easy choice.

I hope so much to finally be able to move to Ryzen. I actually didn't think it would have taken this long. I just want an 8 core 6ghz is all with no latency issues 200+ watt is fine. OC to 6.5ghz

so whats new here ? instruction set, l3 cache ? pcie replacement ? new ram tech ? anything we need ? oh right anonter pcie 123456, another ddr 123456, another socket 12345, i think the only new tech is vcache what is mostly needed in gaming, so i will get a 5800 and sit back and enjoy the show. is pcie 5 backwards compatible ? are pcie 5 graphic cards backwards compatible with 4 ? if not, that will be fun ^^

Either the 7600X and 7700X will get a 100$ bump to get closer to the 7900X or the other way around meaning the 7950X/7900X will cost 100$ less to better match the price point of 7600X/7700X.
